Regarding the article “Cambodia’s routes to riches” (Jan. 19): While rural roads connecting major population centers are important for development, Cambodians rely mostly on bicycles, small motorbikes and their feet for transportation. This majority of travelers is usually the first sacrificed for cars and trucks. New roads tend to cut through smaller villages and lead to the deaths of pedestrians and cyclists, who are rarely considered by the road-building authorities.
Striking a balance between development, auto-mobility for the minority of Cambodians with cars, and the livelihoods of the majority, ought to be more important than opening tourist centers. Is this the only way for Cambodia to develop?

REGARDLESS WHAT HAS DEVELOP. AS LONG AS AH KWAK KBOT CHEAT HUN YOUN SEN IS ALIVE; CAMBODIA AND CAMBODIAN HAVE NO OPPORTUNITY TO IMPROVE. GOVERNMENT CORRUPTIONS TORTURED CITIZENS AND NATION.
Cambodia and Cambodians will remain be the victims of unjust society as long as Hun Sen and CPP are still in power.
LIVE BY THE RULE, DIE BY THE RULE.
hey, it may not be the only way for cambodia to develop, however, it is one of national priorities, really. imagine with good infrastructure like the developing nations out there, we can make lives and economy easier for our people and country. yes, cambodia sees this as one of the most important changes to develop as well as anything else in our national priorities, you know!
a good leader should have a good vision, and vision doesn't necessarily be narrow-minded! be smart and open-minded about it for it will be better for the country and our people as there are more to cambodia than you and i, really! wake up already!
of course not, but don't rule it out either, ok! cambodia needs all development. who say we can't walk and chew at the same time? wake up please!
