Australian anti-migrant campaigner Pauline Hanson to emigrate

Former One Nation leader who said country was being swamped by Asians plans to seek 'peace' in UK

The fish and chip shop owner who gained international notoriety and a seat in Australia's parliament after warning the country it was being swamped by Asians is packing her bags and leaving – and she's bound for Britain.

Pauline Hanson, the former leader of the One Nation party, who once draped herself in the Australian flag and railed against immigration to campaign for a seat in federal parliament, appears to have changed her mind about the rights and wrongs of migration.

She says she can no longer live in Australia. "Sadly, the land of opportunity is no more applicable. It's pretty much goodbye for ever. I've really had enough."

She said in an interview with the magazine Women's Day: "Our governments lack enough people with the fortitude to speak up without fear or favour. Over-regulation, increasing taxes and lack of true representation are affecting our way of life. I feel very much for the young ones. Once it was common for them to own their own home. Not now. It's a harder place."

After more than 10 years in the spotlight she seeks "peace" and "contentment" and hopes to find it in the UK.

Hanson shot to prominence in the 1996 federal election when she claimed that Aboriginal Australians received an abundance of welfare. Although she lasted just one term in parliament she continued courting attention with her extreme views and unusual behaviour. In a video testimony she once recorded with a television network she alleged there was a conspiracy to kill her.

Once, asked during a television interview if she was xenophobic, she replied "please explain" – a response that only bolstered her kudos among followers who viewed her as a maverick unfairly set upon by the political establishment.

Despite three more unsuccessful attempts at returning to federal parliament and two unsuccessful bids to enter the New South Wales and Queensland parliaments, as well as a stint in jail for electoral fraud, a conviction eventually quashed, in 2006 she was named by current affairs magazine the Bulletin as one of the 100 most influential Australians of all time.

Even as her political fortune waned her popularity grew. She appeared in the primetime TV show Dancing with the Stars in 2004, and wrote an autobiography, Untamed and Unashamed. Now she says: "I know I will never be given a chance to enter parliament again."

Some are sceptical that her departure from Australia will last.

Bob Vinnicombe, a longstanding member of One Nation, thinks she will change her mind. "I think it's a passing fad," he said.

"I don't really understand why she would want to go to the UK. She would realise that there's just as many migrants in England as there are in Australia."

Hanson has never been far from controversy and the attention of the Australian media. She once attempted to drive away at speed from the pack that accompanied her on her campaign in 1998, only to end up with a beeline of journalists following her dangerously in hot pursuit.

From the beginning Hanson positioned herself as an amateur, describing herself in her maiden speech to parliament "not as a polished politician but as a woman who has had her fair share of life's knocks". In that speech she also warned that "a truly multicultural country can never be strong or united".

Yet when asked about her decision to move to the UK she said: "Every country has something unique to offer. And I want to experience that, to live it, and not just for a brief time."

The 55-year-old is eligible for dual Australian-British citizenship because her father is English and her mother Irish. But before she makes the final move to Britain, she says she will spend a few months on the south island of New Zealand.

Courting controversy
I have done research on benefits available only to Aboriginals and challenge anyone to tell me how Aboriginals are disadvantaged when they can obtain 3% and 5% housing loans denied to non-Aboriginals …

I am fed up with being told, 'This is our land.' Well, where the hell do I go? I was born here, and so were my parents and children …

My view on issues is based on common sense, and my experience as a mother of four children, as a sole parent and as a businesswoman running a fish and chip shop …

Immigration and multiculturalism are issues that this government is trying to address, but for far too long ordinary Australians have been kept out of any debate by the major parties. I and most Australians want our immigration policy radically reviewed and that of multiculturalism abolished. I believe we are in danger of being swamped by Asians …

What a racist. Every country has its problems, immigration or not.

I thought it was a racist issue first, but then I think it's about
multicultural issues. It should be
one law for all, not multiple laws as fit for whatever culture one happen to be from. I may be wrong in
my perception too.

Right now, it's Cambodia who is getting swamped by the Vietnamese and America is getting swamped by Latin American, but the different is Cambodia is a small country. It can easily take over by the Vietnamese whose Ambition is longing to expand their territory and change everything to Vietnamese. Any parliamentarian that is Vietnamese in Cambodia , can write new law and change thing over night. That can be deadly for Cambodian. It's a huge different. Australian is nothing compare to Cambodia and luckyly, Ms. Hanson has UK to go to. Cambodian people don't and Cambodian have the right to vote for a different leader that is giving too much to Vietnamese without thinking of this great consequence. Just hope that Cambodian people realize that soon enough to vote Hun Sen government out and restore the order and peace for their own country men. So far many are so wraped up with wealth throwing away by the vietnamese authority just like their elite families do.

Bunteay Lungveak Cambodia. Please think back when the Thai throwing silver and gold coins into the bambo bushes of Bunteay Lungveak. What did we do? We swamped to clear this great field to get the coins. What happen next? We were dead opening the door for the Thai to invade Cambodia freely and we lost. The Hun Sen Government is too uneducated and too naiive to be our leader. Please consider this fact and vote them him out and good luck to Ms. Hanson! We hear you.

Did you see Thailand? What did they do? Out!and go home, is what they did, but that's too much. Every country could use a certain amount of people from other countries to do the jobs that are missing and no one is qualified to do in their country. Like America wants Physicians from Pakistan or India to do the job in American's hospital or Latin American and other nationalities to do labor jobs that are shortage by their country men. If American have to deport illigal immegrants, it would be up to about 40 millions of them. That is unlikely to happen.

Please hear that every country must find peace and a good place for their people to live in. So that no one is wanting to go somewhere else and if they DO LEAVE it would be legally and small amount of people. They also have a good reason to back them up. Do people want to live in a foreign land? Please admit the truth. It takes a whole host of education to go thru this. Both the people inside and out side. No one knows that better than the American. The moral of this writting is NOBODY SHOULD BE A BURDEN TO NOBODY.

Australia is completely different from Cambodia.
Australia is a democracy country and Cambodia is not.
Australian judge will not jail Australians or Auatralian parliment member for the same situation.
We can say that Cambodia is going to be run by dictator.

Mrs. Hanson should go to live in a small carribean island by herself to see the shark and hurrican. No country is pure and clean with only their own people. May be she shall go to Africa.

On earth the only multi-racial country is The United States of America. Every body in the continents live in the Great America. She won't cope with people in America; otherwise, Obama will deport her back to where she comes from.

England has more multi-racial than Australia. Is she going to screw England parliament again?

As Khmer and I can understand Pauline Hanson position and the same shit also happen in Cambodia and the Khmer people can't say anything about Youn people without being label a racist!

9:17 PM, u should make difference between controlled migration and colonization. Cambodians people have been killed by a vaste organized crimes to free land for the colonizers while the countries like USA, French or Australia just face migrations, controlled migration. The deference is like day and night.

Die to the yuons killers

Most immigrants in Australia were probably from Hong Kong. In 1997, Prince Charles was there to hand over this great island back to China. It was the end of their colonization. Hong Kong has 50 years to fully intergrate into China. Right now, it's two systems one country, but in 2047 which is 37 years away, Hong Kong will probably convert to fully Communist country. That freaks a lot of the Chinese living in that island. They all want to leave, if they can. England had already said no to Chinese from Hong Kong. Their alternative dumping ground for many of this chinese is Australia. So don't expect the immigrants anytime soon. It will be more. On top of that Taiwan and Teipec are about in the same boat. They don't like the main land China. Their hopeful place for the better is also Australia. Many more countries' refugees are also seeking refuge in Australia. So someone like Ms. Hanson who uses to enjoy her freedom and liberty in her country is going to deprive from it from sure and who fault is that? Why don't the world just go right head and do away with the Communist China? Why save it? It's very sick system and cause aaaalllllll the social problem.

Anonymous said...

Yep, more Chinese is heading to Australia. They are also rich. They can buy any property or anything they want. So it's going to freak a lot of people that are like Ms. Hanson.

The different between Auatralia and Cambodia is country dominance. Australia unlike Cambodia, there is a immigration law in place to control it's population. Immigrants who migrate to Australia is for their well-being of PEACE and STABILITY. As with Cambodia, they want a total DOMINATION.

Cambodia, in it's current stage which lacks of immigration law is opening a flood gate to her own demise.

Cambodian leader should wonder why an influx of Vietnamese immigrant want's to reside in Cambodia when their home country is better off then us. It really doesn't take a genious to figure it out.

interesting topic for a change here. this issue of immigration is complicated than it looks. it sounds like every country on earth have this problem but maybe in a different way. also every country on earth has its own extremist view, etc... as well. that said, i think for cambodia, consider its size in area should work to prevent or actually to easy and immigration problem by first concentrate on creating laws in the books to regulate immigration, particularly youn immigration. you have to understand that youn always has interesting for cambodia for many many reason. i think when cambodia is waking up and spelled out every law in the book and properly demarcate on international borderlines, this problem can be solved via this method. also make it a requirement to learn language, marriage to khmer people, learn khmer history, etc... those who want to live in cambodia should not have any criminal background, could not be drug addicts, must not sexually abusing children, and so forth. you know why people in america can live side by side without much problem? the answer is law; america is a land of the rule of law, everyone live under the rule of law, i mean their rule of law is spelled out and everyone must live by the law, nobody is exempt, period, no matter who they are, literally, period. that is the key in america's success in immigration. if they don't meet those requirments by law, they are simply deported. i can't emphasize enough, do look to borrow from the great american system. america is not evil, get to know america and american system and so on, you will appreciate america very much once you understand the system there. it is the best in the world, believe it or not. just ask anyone who lived in america to tell you about the american law system there. the best is an understatement, really! it is superb, superior, godly and beyond; it's like light years in development. so, why not learn from america? especially cambodia, we need new concept, be modernized, be civilized, and so forth. if we don't embrace america, it is a big mistake for cambodia. look to adopt, adapt, etc from american system please! god bless cambodia.

Anonymous said...

cambodia is lack of immigration law, we should look to study and put in place a good immigration law in the country, and the best place to look for concept is america. yes, borrow concepts for america.

AKhmerican, you should not expect cpp or Khmer rouge to do something good for Cambodia or Cambodian people. Khmer rouge or cpp is created and maintained to power by yuons, these yuon tools are not there to help Khmer but to destroy Khmer and serve yuon interest only. In one word, kill Khmer to yuonisation Cambodia. The friendship, peace and cooperation treaty, that was refused to sing by polpot but lately signed by chan si in mild eighty, imposed cpp to install one yuon family over two Khmer family in town and 1 yuon family over 3 in countryside. I believe this yuon colonization project had reached its plan since eighty to early ninety. The extra yuons colonizers that installed since the first or lat late second Cambodian national election are not included in that treaty at all. The yuons migrants in Cambodia can be much more than what you can see on the papers or yuon papers that why yuons need to reduce endlessly the number of Khmer killed during polpot time to masque explosion of yuon migrants imported to Cambodia after the killing field in order not to choc national or international opinion.

Fuck off and piss off Handson. You had enough of your own selfishness acts against nature if human being.

Initially, you ancestor should not have come and swamped Australia the land belongs to the Aboriginese people.

Hope you have a plane crash on the way and go to hell.

THe problem of the world today is not about immigration or a country being swam by others nationalities. The immigration is very good for each country to maintain their human resources and to provide their goods and services. Each country must has their own strong law to maintain their ID and their Nationlism.
Example, Cambodia needs to maitain their National language, their National custom and tehri way of lives.
French needs to maintain their french language, their culuture, art, their way of lives of loving football.
NZ, a country which everyone love rugby, boat sailing, english language and some Maorie tradition of greeting.
So before acceppting each foreigner to have cityzenship of each country, a person needs to declare and to test that he can speak, write the language and respect law and interest of that country.

sounds like it boils down to respect of the local law and custom, etc... because you are really the host of that country. think about, it! well, unless you become that country citizen, then you have all the rights as the local people. but then again, even getting a citizenship required you to know the history, the language, the custom, etiquette, law, etc, etc..., by passing the test, i assumed!

Anonymous said...

Dont just assume that Cambodia has no migration laws or other laws. Cambodian migration laws is well done, on appearance it is not different from that of French but cpp uses these laws only to serve yuons or its interest as to against Khmer krom people or against Khmer people but never against yuons.

I can hear you loud and clear!

You should go to Cambodia and preach your message before it is too late.

Expressing your opinion here does not help much since most of the voters don't have the Internet connection or even computer and don't know enough English or at all to read your message posted here.

Most of the people here don't want the Vietnamese in Cambodia anyway.

It looks like Aussies are going back to UK where they belong.

Cause Australia isn't belong to white people. They belong to Aboriginee (Black Ethnic groups that was there first.

She should come to USA to join KKK clan or Aryan Nation. Choose one of the following places for her in America: Minesota, Montana, Alabama,Tennessee, South carolina, or Georgia.

Or go to Germany to join Nazi club.

Choosing England is not a right place for her. England is too soft for immigrants than Australia

having extreme personality is never good, especially for a leader! sound more like ms hanson is uneducated or ignorant to me! if she is highly educated she would have logical thoughts and think rationally before using racist paranoia! by the way, what planet was she from? maybe she is blinded or retarded to think clearly!

Anonymous said...

she's an australian political maverick. i think she should join the sam rainsy party of cambodia. what do you think?

Anonymous said...

Ms. Hanson is perhaps the first Australian to become the most frustrated minority in her own land. Put ourself in her shoes and think of us when the vietnamese are becoming the majority of people in Cambodia. Yeah, at least getting her to share her expertise of this great deprivation or loniness and isolation. We're all human being. I feel very bad for her.

In Cambodia the youns or cpp named everything or those who revolt or fight against cpp tyranny or yuon crimes as extremists, racist, terrorist, that's yuons political song,

Just to remind, Cambodia face yuon expansionist and genocidal policy as colonize predestined, not just little migration problem as Australia, USA or Europe,
