Seven people found with cholera in Mekong Delta province

Tuesday, February 2, 2010
Thanh Nien News (Hanoi)

Seven of 45 people with acute diarrhea who were admitted to local hospitals in the Mekong Delta province of An Giang between January 19 and 28, were found to have cholera, a health ministry agency reported on Sunday.

All seven cholera patients came from Cambodia’s Takeo and Kandal provinces to An Giang for treatment, according to the Department of Preventive Health and Environment.

The department did not clarify whether all the patients were Vietnamese or not.

The Ministry of Health has warned of an outbreak of cholera, an acute intestinal infection transmitted through water or food contaminated with the bacteria vibrio, causing diarrhea and dehydration that can lead to kidney failure and death if not treated promptly.

The disease has ravaged northern Vietnam two times, in 2008 and 2009, infecting hundreds of people.

Meanwhile, in the central province of Ha Tinh, which has been hit by outbreaks of the avian flu H5N1, reported that seven people had fallen sick with fever and flu symptoms after coming in contact with sick poultry.

However, tests at the Hanoi-based National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology showed they did not have the avian flu virus.

Also on Sunday, the Nam Tra My General Hospital in the central province of Quang Nam said they had admitted 25 people with malaria over the past week from Tra Tap Commune.

The local health agency found nearly 100 people affected with the mosquito-borne infectious disease, but they had not approached the hospital for treatment. Hospital staff said they had also found patients in Nam Tra My District’s other communes.

I just google and notice that 95% of Cambodian males is gay, 60% of them has a small dick, so they chose to work as whores for the White farang to bang their ass to get a life. If you are a Cambodian and has a bad time with your tiny dick, please consider us at:

Oh, here they go again
KI web-site reader totally misunderstanding the original article. The article is not biased against Cambodia.

The article says there were 2 serious cholera outbreaks in Northern Vietnam in 2008 & 2009 (i.e. nothing to do with Cambodia). The article says that in An Giang 45 people have been admitted to hospital with acute diarrhoea, and after testing it was found that 7 of these 45 had cholera. It then also says that these exact 7 people (i.e. the ones with cholera) all traveled from Takeo & Kandal provinces to An Giang for treatment. The article does not say that these 7 people were Khmer, or that they were Cambodians, or if they were Vietnamese. All you can take from the article is that these 7 people chose to have treatment in An Giang rather than in Takeo or Kandal. The article says absolutely nothing bad about Cambodia.

The reader might themselves wonder why these people traveled to An Giang for treatment. It could be that they are Vietnamese. And it could be that they, like many middle class Cambodians travel to Vietnam for (better & cheaper) medical treatment, rather than be treated in Cambodia.

But the article itself does not say this. It could have said this, it could have pointed out the inadequacies & indifference of most Cambodian Health Care services. But it didn't. So, please, dear reader, shut up with the continual and easy taking of offense when no offense was actually given by the writer of the article.

Mekong Delta never belongs to Hanoi, because the people in this part don't want to be part of Hanoi.
Remembered of the war during 1960 to 1975 between Hanoi regime and the people of the Southern parts.

Vietnameses patients or non-Vietnameses, they are sick and need humane treatment.

We Cambodians must take measure to combat this disease in our Country.

This is a health problem and not a political problem.

-Cholera is an infection of the small intestine that causes a large amount of watery diarrhea.

-The objective of treatment is to replace fluid and electrolytes lost through diarrhea. Depending on your condition, you may be given fluids by mouth or through a vein (intravenous). Antibiotics may shorten the time you feel ill.
