There are reports that 20 Vietnamese families have built their houses inside Khmer territory in Koh Chamkar village, Boeng Sala commune of Kampong district in Kampot province, reports Koh Santepheap.
The reports said those 20 Vietnamese families built their houses and farm on swamp lands illegally and that there is no authority trying to stop them.
Koh Santepheap reported that the 20 Vietnamese families comprised 60 family members and have leased lands from two companies to farm prawns on a long term contract. The reports said that the areas where the Vietnamese families built their houses are located on the borders with Vietnam and is not accessible by many people because of the swamps.
A Cambodian police officer manning the Prek Chay International Checkpoint said that almost all the 60 Vietnamese don't carry any Cambodian documents or passports, only a man named Toeun who carries a passport. According to sources close to the companies, these Vietnamese family pay $500 per year in rental to the companies. The sources said that Khmers living in the areas are working as labourers clearing trees for the Vietnamese prawn farms, earning 70,000 Vietnamese dongs ($5.80) per day.

it is against khmer law to lease land illegally in swamp lands, etc... what the viet/youn are thinking? they should know better how khmer people feel about this, really! must we say more! give me a break! they better not violate khmer immigration and land law, etc..., seriously! no one person in cambodia can illegally lease state lands or their own land to foreigners, especially if it is a secret deal, etc...! because sooner or later the law will catch up with them, i'm sure!
Wow...thought they leased 2 Khmer penises to make 'nem nuong'! :)
This is a back door encroachments on Khmer lands. Soon, this lands will be on the Vietnamese side of the borders and permanently become Vietnam's territory. The two companies that illegally leased these lands the the 20 Vietnamese families must be punished.
