Cambodia's elderly former king Norodom Sihanouk and his family returned home on Wednesday from China where he spent seven months receiving medical treatment, officials said.
Sihanouk, his wife, and his son King Norodom Sihamoni were greeted at the airport by Prime Minister Hun Sen and other senior government officials.
Oum Daravuth, a member of the royal cabinet, told reporters that Sihanouk was now in "good health" and that his royal presence would bring harmony to the kingdom and its people.
Sihanouk, 87, has suffered from a number of ailments, including cancer, diabetes and hypertension.
In July last year he returned to Cambodia after a stay of almost one year in China, where he was successfully treated for a third bout of cancer.
He and his wife returned last September for a check-up and treatment, while Sihamoni flew to see the pair in Beijing last month.
The ex-monarch said last October that he had lived too long and wished to die as soon as possible, according to a personal handwritten note on his website. "Lengthy longevity bears on me like an unbearable weight," he said.
One of Asia's longest-serving monarchs, he abruptly quit the throne in October 2004 in favour of his son, citing old age and health problems.
Despite abdicating, Sihanouk remains a prominent figure in Cambodia and often uses messages on his website to comment on matters of state.

The picture seems that Akwen Sihanouk is a criminal being deported by China police or arrested and sent to Khmer rouge court.The fact he comes to stir up the problem and create more hatred to Sam Rainsy Party in Cambodia.This idiot Sihanouk should not return but when he arrives Phnom Penh, he will thank to Akwak for helping his son to be on crown.

Sihanouk is the king crazy
The Khmer Rouge taught some of you very well- to hate and to kill. From some of your speeches here, I cannot believe that you have not learned the lesson. The Khmer Rouge hated educated people or those appeared to be educated, and hated those who had any connections with the former government (the Lon Nol government). They blamed them for all the ills in society. Holding the rational, they persecuted and killed. The hate speech permeated the psyche of their cadres like a wild field in Southern California during a hot summer. They hated and killed without a conscience. The result almost 2 millions Khmer perished.
I am not here to defend those some of you live your life to hate. I am defending you. As the wheel of history is turning, some days the table will turn against you. If we allow this vicious cycle to continue, we will end up killing each other endlessly. That is not who we are as a people, as Khmer. We are much better than that.
Let us refrained ourselves from this pernicious attacks. Let us find compassion within our hearts to try to understand first before we judge because the probability of misunderstanding is great here. For every historical event that took place may appeared one way in our lenses might actually be different in reality. Only when we understand the twists, the turns, and all the forces behind what happened can we truly evaluate and judge.
