Meas Kunthy, the owner of a restaurant in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, is currently behind bars and awaiting prosecution for brutal domestic violence against his wife.
Kunthy´s wife claims that she had been sexually, mentally and physically tortured by her husband since their marriage in 2000, but she thought it was normal and was too frightened to say or do anything about it.
The victim says she is relieved Kunthy is in prison as he had been threatening to kill her and her parents.
In a 2005 study in Cambodia, one-quarter of female respondents reported suffering violence at the hands of their husbands.

time to fix this social problem in cambodia. women suffered a lot from sexual assault to child birth to abuse by their spouse, etc..., not to mention woman's health problem, etc... khmer women deserve better, really!
I agree! in cambodia, most of women were suffered from men abusive, some guy don't want to work always drank wine, got drunk, beaten wife and kids, sometime even rape their own childs? i urged cambodian authority to step up and punish these punkass, and clean up our dirty society...including gang bang bullshit craps! this guy who tortured, abused his wife as a sex slave, must spent time in jails for a long long time, to teach those bastards out there a lessons!!!!
Men who lazy don't work, should not eat, you must work to take care your family...

I used to know one family who my next door neighbor, this guy alway got drunk and beaten up his wife every fucken time, when he' got drunk, he became so violent, but if he's not drinking...he's ok!?

it just needs fixing, that's all. there's no such thing as too late, really. it is only too late if you are dead, really. i know some khmer men who take care of their family and who are very responsible, so don't be ignorant to say that all khmer men are like that, ok! get educated already, please!

Majority of Khmer men are very abusive to their wives. It's a culture thing, you know that. Men have always be a bread winners. Women stay home and be house wives and make babies. That is how the society looks and treats women. Some old fashioned women have accepted this abusive from their husbands. Some tried to fight back and been successful. In this case, Mr. Kunthy went to far. He deserves to stay in jail for life without parole. This is a lesson that all abusive Khmer men should learn from it. Listen up, Khmer men, be a man, don't use your power to abuse your innocent spouse. Enough is enough! I'm glad that finally the law is on women's side.
i think education to all the young people not to do this kind of abuse is necessary enough change the paradigm regards this abusive personality, really! i think once people are educated they will be aware and can avoid at all cost this abusive relationship, really! don't give up, ok, also get help too when yoiu are in an abusive relationship and don't tolerate it more than two times. maybe it takes two to tango, but there should be no excuses whatsoever, though!
i think people abuse because they can get away, however, if they understand the law, then they will think twice, really. people need to get counseling for their problems, really! think about improvement or finding solution to this problem, not blaming, etc, ok!
