While he was taking pictures at a market, the reporter was assaulted by several individuals.
Vong Thou, a reporter for the Rasmei Kampuchea newspaper in Banteay Meanchey, was beaten up at the beginning of the week by owners of gambling parlors while he was trying to take pictures of Yuki, a gambling that is very popular in Cambodia, especially at the Kbal Spean market in Poipet.
The reporter was severely injured on his head and his face. The cops had already arrested two of the assailants and Vong Thou brought up a lawsuit to the provincial court, accusing his assailants of murder attempt.
In a communiqué issued on 02 March, the Club of Cambodian Journalists [CCJ] considers the violence as a serious attack on the freedom of the press: “We call on the justice [system] and the police to arrest the authors of the attack, and to sentence them according to the law,” the CCJ indicated.

The rights of all INDEPENDENT, NOT BIAS, and HIGH ETHIC newsagent should be protected.
Yet there are some journalists or newsagent like the KAMPUCHEATHMEY, who is highly politicized and very bias to the CPP. They keep attacking the civil societyand the opposition . I am not speaking in favor of any sides or parties. But you can have a look at this page of the KAMPUCHEA THMEY.

They used Google Translor Toolbar to translate the opposition party webpage into Thai language, and painted the party as supporter to Thai's invasion of Cambodia.
Actually, with this Google Translate Toolbar, you can translate any blogs into available languages, either Thai or Vietnamese. Even the KAMPUCHEA THMEY webpage can also be automatically translated into Thai or chinese or ... so on and so forth.
So be careful with some bad guys who using this add-on Google Translate Toolbar.

Such aggressive behavour is unacceptable, Khmer gov't needs to punish these perpetrator so that the gov't itself will have a good reputation. In Aust, we have a common law to protect all citizens. Even the prime-minister himself can not get away from any indecent behaviour. Mainly because Aust people are following the bible teaching, by using the ten commandments. It is that simple. " a nation with God's guidance is a nation with order...happy are those who keep God's law". In Aust, no one have more than one wife, only when the divorce occurred then they can proceed with a new marriage but at the end of the day men still "1 wife". In doing so is to avoid further problems within the extended family. In addition, no one is allowed to bet up their wives or children. We have great respect for one another. If negative things occur, they would have a mediator to solve their problem, like legal service. Aust takes pride in their way if life and a result of this, they have a beautiful country. They have a welfare to support everybody, including medicare for free health service, like hospital bad etc. Now if khmer gov't don't learn from Aust way of life, we will have nothing left. At the moment Aust is migranting more skilled people to come into the country to speed up in the developmental process. So, please try to learn from these successful nations, as it is only 200 years old and has soooooo much to offer. I say this is because i feel soooo hurt to see our people label as an-incapable people and I know that we came from a war side of it but don't let this slow us down. I want to see our people have what Aust is having the "quality of life" for all of our citizen. Aust
