Millions of Khmer people life or a few hundred meters of land on the border, which is more valuable. If Khmer people are all dead, extinct from genocide by the Khmer Rouge, no land in the whole universe would do anything good. So before you cuss the them for go to ask the Viet for help to kick out the KR, you should think about the situation at that time. If you have a nice house, and if your whole family is about to die, don't you give up your nice house to save your family. But in this case, Khmer not even lose the whole land, may be some few hundred meters at the border. Even no one want to lose an inch of land, but if it save millions of life, it worth the price.
i don't necessarily agree with the above opinion. i think there are always exception to the rule, given the situation or circumstances, really. for example, cambodia should fight tooth and nail to protect our lands i.e. country life we care for our own life, etc... siem and youn have no right to steal from cambodia no matter how the situation is in cambodia. they should not take advantage of cambodia, period!

I'm Response to the second post comments on Vietnamese took Khmer lands because they rescued Khmer from the Killing field. Your are dead wrong with your comments there. During the Vietnam war Khmer King allowed the Viet Cong to used Khmer lands for transport their war equipments and others supplied to fight the American and South Vietnam is also belong Khmer when the French secretly signed it South Vietnam in 1954. For the VC help Khmer to save KR, There were about 15,000 plus Khmer troops were trained by VC during communist revolution in 1950. Khmer also many armys ready fight from Thailand and were supported by Amerwican. If you don't know history of Vietnamese country and please read it history. It Champa land and later Khmer land...
