FENTON -- It took little Madeline (Maddie) Mettler-Anglim of Fenton almost 3 years to grow her hair, but only a few seconds to cut it off.
"It was getting longer and longer but I think it was the final push after Ellen passed away," said Maddie’s mother, Ann Anglim.
Maddie originally came to America after her parents Ann and Ellen adopted her from Cambodia.
“They wanted to adopt a Cambodian child because Ann’s dad was in Vietnam and was killed in Vietnam and he would work with the orphans there, so it was really kind of important for her," said Kathy Arnould.
Maddie witnessed her mother Ellen’s battle to cancer.
"I think because of her mom Ellen several times during her 8 or 9 years however long it was, she had lost all her hair and that's a traumatic thing, and she knows stories about kids taking chemo and this is something she wanted to do for a kid," Arnould
Donating her hair to the Locks of Love organization was Maddie's way of making her mother proud.
"It makes me feel really good because my mom would always say, if you work really hard you can make a difference," Maddie said.
It means the world to Maddie to know that she has given the gift of hair to some little girl.
