GENEVA (16 April 2010) – The UN Independent Expert on human rights and extreme poverty, Magdalena Sepúlveda, will visit Vietnam from 20-29 April to collect first-hand information on the situation of people living in extreme poverty and on efforts undertaken by the Vietnamese Government to improve their situation.
“Missions like this one are a very important opportunity for countries to review progress made in the promotion of human rights and renew their commitments,” said Ms Sepúlveda, who is the first UN Human Rights Council independent expert to visit Vietnam in over 12 years.
“Vietnam has been praised for its economic development in recent years, but poverty persists,” noted the human rights expert, who will visit the country at the invitation of the Government. “Social protection policies are of great importance to lift people out of poverty and human rights standards require official support to these initiatives.”
The Independent Expert will hold meetings with senior Government officials, including the Deputy Prime Minister and representatives from various ministries working on social policies. She will also meet UN representatives, the donor community and non-governmental organizations. During her mission, Ms Sepúlveda will visit communities living in poverty in Hanoi, and in the provinces of Kon Tum and Bac Can.
Based on the information collected during the visit, Ms Sepúlveda will prepare a report and make recommendations on strengthening social protection in Vietnam using a human rights perspective. This report will be presented to the Human Rights Council in 2011.
A press conference will be held on Thursday 29 April 2010 at 11.30 at the UNDP office in Hanoi.
Magdalena Sepúlveda is the Independent Expert on the question of human rights and extreme poverty since May 2008. She is a Chilean lawyer currently working as Research Director at the International Council on Human Rights Policy in Geneva.
(The UN Independent expert, Magdalena Sepúlveda, should freely visit where she wants to. She should visit the area where the Indigenous Peoples live, such as Central Highland and Kampuchea Krom. The Indigenous Peoples are the poorest people in Vietnam.
Under a communist regime like Vietnam, when the Vietnamese government is brave enough to invite the UN expert, that means they already have a plan to mislead the UN expert to visit only the areas that are well developed. If not, they don't wait for 12 years to allow the UN expert coming to their country.)

Vietnam is always poorer than Cambodia, Yuons are always poorer than Khmers, look at its currency, why Khmers should not trust Yuon companies, they keep good factories in Vietnam and they build dangerous and poluting factories in Cambodia.
Khmers should not allow any Yuon company invest in Cambodia.
In USA, the Indigenous Peoples are the one one not living under poverty at all. They come close to be the riches of all. Look at the Casino built or made by them. They collected millions to billion. And they are not worry about TAX.

This is how International community treat Cambodia with the help of some cambodian abroad for their political gain. Even the new Cambodian generation who are living outside Cambodia also believe it too.

It is common sense that if Vietnamese still want to come to live in Cambodia, they must know that it is better in Cambodia than Vietnam. It is the same way that Mexican want to come and live in the US. You don't need PHD degree to understand that.
As we all know the US look the other way regarding this issue with Vietnam. For all the Vietnamese that I know, they rarely talk bad about the Viet gov. All they talked about, is how much fun that they had when they went back to Vietnam. They did not have the intention to look for Gov. fault at all.
It is really our problem NOT to see revenue of developing,apart from explosive land prices,in many areas such as potential of agriculture. It is NOT to allow any concession, but put back the money from robbing the country back to work.
