A message from Kanika Linden, the author of the Cambodian cookbook

Hello everyone,

My name is Kanika Linden and I co-wrote with my mother the cookbook "Au pays de la Pomme Cythère".

The book was originally written to keep a trace of my mother's recipes and was not intended to be a commercial venture. Our purpose is really to promote our beautiful Khmer culinary traditions. We have self-published the book, meaning that we have done everything ourselves from the writing to taking the pictures to publishing it.

It has been a long, sometimes challenging process. We have worked tirelessly in our own free time to produce this book. Your comments show that it was worth it! Thanks for your support. The Gourmand Award has taken us by surprise and has definitively placed Cambodia on the map. For 2009, there were 6,000 participants competing in the Gourmand Awards, from 136 countries. The book is currently in FRENCH. I am working on the English version, which should be ready in the first half of 2011. We are planning to go and meet the Cambodian community in the US during the summer 2011.

If you would like to have the book in FRENCH, please contact whitetaraltd@gmail.com. Thank you!

i think everyone should help to promote khmer cuisine to be famous and well-known like viet and siem food. if viet and siem can do it, khmer should too.

She is working on an English edition. I will get one copy for sure. Khmer food is as good as other food and all Khmers should help to promote it. Congrat to Kanaika and her mother.

Can some Cambodian writers or author in France write about the history of French wrongly and fully responsible for the transferring Khmer Kampuchea Krom to YUON?

French needs to wake up and take this action!

10:01pm,if you hate FRENCH you have to learn FRENCH,in order to fight with them how`re you going to speak!!???ah!.The reason that the fucking FRENCH gave our land to the VIETNAME so easy because they(VIET)have known speaking FRENCH language very well long time ago and they are very good of being cocksuckers. That`s why,KHMER KAMPUCHEA KROM had gone gone to the VIETCONGS,without any interfere from the WESTERN country.(SI TU N` AIMES PAS LA FRANCE,TU DOITS ETUDIER LA LANGE FRANCAISE.EN CAS,TU VAS BATTRE AVEC LEUR,TU ES CAPABLE PARLER,COMPRENDS TU???.)

Hi bloggers

Be nice and mindful with your words. I think Kanika is trying do us all a service so be nice and give her a moral support -- if anybody had gone to college and try to write a papper, you how hard it is to put the ideas together...so give her a moral support. In addition, don't use this Ki media, as the platform to vent out your anger...don't conteminate ki media flatform...this is for people with some sence of right and wrong to expresss their thought. And one in a while give moral support to our Khmer fellows...

Happy Khmer New Year to Khmer everywhere...

Hello to all,

I just read your comments. Thank you for your messages of moral support and kindness.

I am saddened by the messages posted which contain verbal abuse and vulgarity. Freedom to express opinions and thoughts are one thing, using vulgarity and verbal abuse to express oneself is another.

Please bloggers could you refrain using this platform to vent your anger. Food is about sharing, connecting, emotions, not about fighting.
