VOA News 12 April 2010
Thailand's influential army chief has called for parliament to be dissolved and early elections held as the best way to end anti-government protests.
General Anupong Paojinda said Monday he does not want to use force against the thousands of red-shirted protesters who are demanding Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva resign.
The general said dissolving parliament appears to be the reasonable step to take.
Thailand's election commission Monday recommended Prime Minister Abhisit's Democrat Party be dissolved, accusing it of accepting a multi-million dollar campaign contribution in 2005.
A party spokesman says it fully complied with funding laws.
The red-shirted protesters carried mock coffins through the streets of Bangkok Monday to mourn the victims of Saturday's violennce in the Thai capital.
At least 21 people were killed and more than 900 injured when police fired at demonstrators -- some of whom were also armed.
Most of the so-called "Red Shirts" support exiled Prime Minister Thaskin Shinawatra, who was ousted in a 2006 military coup because of allegations of corruption.
The protesters call Mr. Abhisit an illegitimate leader.
Mr. Thaskin has the backing of many rural and poor Thais.

And what happens when the red shirt wins the election? Will you resolve the parliament again because you're afraid of yellow shirt protesters who think their minority voice should be the ruling voice?
This is the true affect of Karma of prolonging Khmer problem at border and lying to the world. The sacred object at Preah Vihear made sure you are true to your words or destruction will ensue, so you Thailand should be warn as you also believe in sacred vows and supernatural tragedy that binds people and nation to honesty.
You fucken Thais people ran out an idea to pressure cambodia, that's why, you change your fucken mind..? stop takne advantage on cambodia from now on, it's not easy like you thought...stupid fuck!!
Personally I am not surprise of desolution the Thai parliment, this is one of the best ways that Siamese especially the border issue with Kampuchea. Siamese GOV'T do not want to withdraw their troops under any condition may impose by Khmer GOV'T on the negociation table, thought they are using this mean to save Siamese GOV'T's FACE, the country, and international.
Dear all! Remember Siam!!!
oh siam
HAHAHAHAH AH ABHISIT AND KASIT MUST LEAVE THE COUNTRY NOW!!!!!!!!!!
Don't you Khmer know and see Siam love their people instead of one group who run the country? If hun sen act he will kill all the people red shirt. Who dare to against hun's power who dare to die but remember hun will never have power for the rest of his life. When he die he will die in a very hard way not a natural cause.
Mr. Anukpong must be smart and swift reacting inorder to survive, if he extend this border conflict any longer he will get kill as well, not by Khmer soldier but by his bigger boss's wife, once he would be summoned to report the border conflicts inside Palace, or otherwise his seat will sink down to a hungry wating LION in Palace's basement.
You have a master key to life, why don't you use it??????.
Ah kwak hun sen. I know you are stupid, and dumb...learn from this Thai General. Mar ah pleur!
When Khmer's people will pick an educated person to run your country? When school system in Cambodia get improve so you can give Khmer to understand what is right or wrong? You can see Siam have much better education if you want to compare with Khmer. They respect their people LIFE.
Come on Abhishit! you already lost, just give up and let everything starting all over again, and we Khmers/Thais are all will live happily side by side and peace with our khmer surins-sisaket, so, all people can get back to their normal life...ok!
Why the CPP supporters in PP always talk about the current Siem govt never want to step down, too hangry for power? Why they don't think about their CPP leader themselves , the Cambodia govt are the most corrution and most dictator in Asia. Hun Sen should step down or ok to stay more longer but he must stop do what ever Viet Nam ask him to. Hun Sen will be our man if he turn around and tell Viet Nam to get f--k.
But he won't , he'll stay until he's gone.
Thai generals vs. Khmer generals.
No offense I am khmer, but people, particularly Khmer generals, learn something from this Thai general and the Thai people.
I thought the army need to stay out of politic, maybe except for Thailand ??????
According to some of the bloggers, whatever the Thai do, is always right. Thailand has coup every two years or so, from yellow shirt to red shirt, the cycle never end.
If Thailand is better than Combodia, why they are winening so much ? According to most of the news, only Cambodian are poor, I didn't know there are poor people in Thailand also, Is it true ????
If they are better than the neighbor, why they are not happy ???
Where are human right organization ??? Did the army kill the people (protesters) ????
