Clashes continue in Bangkok

AlJazeeraEnglish — May 15, 2010 — Another eight people have been killed in Bangkok as anti-government "Red Shirt" protesters continue to battle security forces on the streets of the capital.

The total death toll over the past three days now stands at 24. It is unclear if those killed were all protesters but it is known that none of the dead were soldiers.

Government troops meanwhile continue to surround the red shirt who have been camped in the centre of the capital for two months.

Troops have also been declaring certain areas "live fire zones".

This means security forces will use live ammunition against any protesters trying to enter these areas.

Speaking for the first time since the latest round of violence began on Thursday, Thailand's prime minister Abhisit Vejjajiva made it clear that his soldiers will not back down.

Al Jazeera's Wayne Hay reports from Bangkok (May 16, 2010).

The soldier in the picture is your typical Thai soldier, expert at killing civilians. This time it is not refugees but Thai civilians, really brave these so called soldiers. The most recent figure put civilian death toll at 24 with many mored wounded.

I wondered how they stand up in battle with enemy soldiers with guns aiming at them.

Thai army been trained to shoot at civilians only.
Thai army are too powerful, professional to only kill unarm peoples.
I hope the red shirt split Thai into two and form their own army to control some part and fight for their own provinces.

The red should assign one faction to go underground to take up arm.

Thai justice system is so bias against the reds that they would never get a fair trial.

The gov't is so arrogance. Every offer from outside(US, UN, or ASEAN) is rejected probably too embarrass to accept it.

I'm proud of Thai Reds, their willingness to sacrifice, even with heavy caulties. Cambodians can learn a thing or two from them.

IF after the clash, the result favor the Reds, Thailand will shine much brighter in mainland Southeast Asia.

Siem-rouges must adopt the same strategy used by the Muslims in the south. That is: no talkings, no public declarations, bleed their enemies to a slow death.

I personally don't want either side in Thailand to win this conflict.
Let them both drag their feet and angry at each other.

The government wins the 1st round.

thai and siam soldiers robbed, tortured, and killed many Khmer refugees during 1975-1991 by shooting their victims in their limbs leaving them lifeless. Them thai/siam crooks will get what they deserve. Karma will gradually take effect.

The government should be able to come up with the best possible solution instead of losing lives. This is something really out of hand.
