THE Supreme Court has summoned opposition Sam Rainsy Party lawmaker Mu Sochua to appear for a hearing on June 2, when it will make a final ruling on a defamation charge brought against her by Prime Minister Hun Sen, according to a citation issued by Chhoun Chantha, the court’s deputy general prosecutor.

In August 2009, Phnom Penh Municipal Court found Mu Sochua guilty of defamation and ordered her to pay 16.5 million riels (around US$3,975) in fines and compensation to Hun Sen, a verdict that was upheld by the Court of Appeal in October.

Mu Sochua said Thursday that she hoped the court would make a fair ruling in the case, but repeated her earlier declaration that she will refuse to pay the fine if the court upholds her guilty verdict.

“I still have hope, even though that hope is small, but I have hope for all those people who want the court system to be balanced,” she said.

“If I lose the case, it means that the court did not consider that, and it would show that [the court] has not given me justice, because I am a victim.”

She added: “My case is not about one individual, it is related to all women.”

Ky Tech, the government lawyer representing the prime minister, said he hoped the court would provide justice for his client, and warned that any ruling made by the court would be enforced by law.

“If any party loses the case and the court orders them to do something, he must follow. If anyone is sentenced to jail, he must be jailed. If anyone is ordered to pay money, he must pay money,” Ky Tech said.

“If [Mu Sochua] does not follow it, the court will take legal action.”

Hun Sen accused Mu Sochua of defamation after the outspoken lawmaker filed her own lawsuit against him, alleging that he defamed her during a speech he made in Kampot province in April 2009.

Mu Sochua’s own lawsuit was thrown out by the Court of Appeal in October.

Chhoun Chantha could not be reached for comment Thursday.

Cambodian judges are just a band of monkeys, they don't use laws to apply justice but do only what Hun sen wants.
Their degrees is only pieces of paper that Hun Sen uses to clean his ass when he nedds.

What disgraced Mu Sochua has said, is indicated that if the Supreme Court is uphold the verdict of the Court of Appeal means the Supreme Court has not given her the justice. So, the real justice that she's crying out for, is winning the case.

The way Mu Sochua has showed political stunt in Cambodia likes she's tried to change Cambodia into her own world by using her skill on the bed to inspire her.

I was also charged under UNTAC Article 62 with criminal defamation. The trial court convicted me, and I appealed to the Appeals Court. The Appeals court's ruling was that I had not defamed the person who claimed that I had. That person appealed to the Supreme Court and the Supreme Court upheld the Appeals Court decision. Amazing since I am a foreigner and the person who filed the lawsuit for defamation against me was Khmer of high standing. So, at least my case stands for the fact that one can get justice in the Khmer court of today-at least in my case.

It is not her political agenda to accept the decision of the Supreme Court if they decide to uphold the Appeals Court decision. It's better to continue to cast one's self as a victim so one can continue the drama of being falsely accused. In reality she may be guilty because all she would have to do to get out of this charge was to show the what she said was true. Obviously she wasn't able to do that and hence convicted.

I urge Hun sen to let Madam Mu go as she is also working for the best interest of our nation. e.g forgive those who wrong and you too will be forgiven by God above. No one is perfect only the creator is. So, be a good role model for our future generation to come that is ok to make mistake sometimes and the best we individual can do is to learn from it and also to improve from it. Again if khmer don't love khmer, no one in the world will. Also don't allow the outsiders to enjoy or taking advantage of our conflicts. Aust

The real issue here is not wheter Ms. Sochua is guilty or not guilty,it is the integrity of a judicial system where the ruling party call all the shots!

And some of you people appear to anticipate justice coming from these Supreme clowns?

Can some of you law expert understand Khmer dissidents are being hunted down and shot on the streets with impunity, without you spineless legal experts jumping up and be vocal about it? And you try to make these mindless kangaroos working for justice? Wake up and smell the stench of our dead innocent people, because you are next!

What is the purpose of looking for conviction of a Khmer woman, while the whole land is full of lawless robbers, plunderes, murderers in fancy titles like Samdech so and so, and the sovereignty of the Khmer nation is being trampled on left and right?

Ms. Suchua, drive on Sister! And stick it in their ugly faces teach them: CE QUE LA FEMME VEUT DIEU LE VEUT!
