Chapey is one of the Khmer music art form that represents Cambodia. We're all should preserve it for our future generations. We should teach the young ones about this music for them to understand what it is. It is very vital that this art form can also be an educating tool and message can be passed though by it. It is usually just story telling method accompanied by this solo instrument, it is very unique and has very catchy tune. We're all must preserve our musical heritage!!!!!!!!

Chapey is the smartest and most truthful languages in Khmer's music. Many of our old folks just love it. Young people don't seem to care for it, because the language seems somewhat too powerful and deep for them to understand. So listen up everyone, it calls Brain Power Art. You will find it more interesting as you get older and Mr. Kong Nay is trying to save them just for you.

Chapei allows political message, social message, and all sorts of message to slip through political sensorship as an art form of practiced by the esoteric and poetic minds.
Also gives us a continuation of culture and history through oral recalling. Chapei are the most respected muse and minstrels in Khmer society.
good idea, khmer music and arts are among the finest in the world, really!
My parents love listening to chapey so it's natural for me to understand it. Khmer culture have everything, Chapey, Ayai, wedding music, lakorn basaac, ye-kay, robam, etc. What other cultures posses all that?
yes, nowadays, they use technology like computers, cd, dvd, etc to record the living arts. so cambodia should start recording and safeguarding our precious, beautiful khmer musics, arts, etc into these modern technology so to keep it alive forever in the name of khmer culture, tradition, education, etc... god bless cambodia.
Unbelievable but truth this particular musical art form the Thai cannot seem to copy. Even one particular Chapey musician in Surin is Khmer and sings Khmer, unfortunately has passed away already. Check her out youtube....
