The army is stepping up its surveillance in fear armed men allied to hard-core protesters could launch terror attacks in Bangkok and other provinces in revenge for the May 19 crackdown, an army source says.

Intelligence reports and an assessment of the situation in the wake of the rally have concluded there is a real possibility of violent retaliation by groups who fled the protest site at Ratchaprasong intersection after the military operation, the source said yesterday.

The revenge could be in the form of car and motorcycle bombs, taking the lives of soldiers and government figures, and arson attacks at locations which are symbols of the government and armed forces. They could take place in the capital or the provinces.

Some red shirt politicians who have connections in the three southern border provinces could hire insurgents from the lower South to launch attacks in Bangkok, the source said.

The concerns have prompted intelligence authorities to monitor the movements of suspected insurgents, especially those who are already in Bangkok.

One incident which led the army to fear possible terror attacks was a car bomb at the Poseidon massage parlour car park on Ratchadaphisek Road in Bangkok on April 4, the source said.

While the army is preparing for the possibility of violence, the Centre for the Resolution of the Emergency Situation favours ending the curfew in Bangkok and other provinces tomorrow.

The government will decide today whether to extend the curfew.

Security agencies held talks yesterday to evaluate the situation, consulting with army leaders in other regions and provincial governors.

Many were of the view that the situation in the wake of the red shirt rally was improving and the curfew therefore should be lifted, CRES spokesman Sansern Kaewkamnerd said.

But the armed forces needed to be deployed in some key places, while security duty in other areas of the capital should be returned to police if they were ready to take over, Col Sansern said.

Bangkok and 23 other provinces are under curfew from midnight tonight to 4am tomorrow.

Defence Minister Prawit Wongsuwon said earlier that although the curfew might end, the state of emergency law was still necessary to allow security authorities to arrest so-called terrorists.

"What can be lifted is the curfew but the executive decree will continue," Gen Prawit said after meeting the Defence Council yesterday which was attended by all armed forces leaders.

Defence Ministry spokesman Thanathip Sawangsaeng said Gen Prawit had ordered soldiers to secure their units and local government offices and to stay alert despite the end of the riots.

The minister ordered continuous surveillance and protection at arsenals and fuel yards of the armed forces, he said.

Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva has plans to reconcile the country's political divisions but he has vowed there would be no compromise with terrorists, the defence minister said.

This is how the civil war start. The handsome look of Abhisit is a false look, he is not a nice guy at all. When it come to crack down his own people for his power he is just like Hun Sen.

Abhisit couldn't comprise the deal with the red shirt. He used force to put down his own people.

The isaan people you should break away and form your own country. Change your language from siam to whatever you like, you can make your own language between Khmer and Laotian if you like. After all, all of you are all Mon-khmer.

I'd like to congratulate the Thai government for the creation of another insurgency following the government crackdown on the red shirts.

War is peace

11;33am.
Only the T'ai royalists can round up the people like red shirts who speak against them. T'ai government is too paranoid by accusing the red shirts have been infiltrated by Khmers. The illegal T'ai government should not worry or even think of the dumb azz Hun Sen could have done such thing, but they should focus on Vietnamese Communists who can speak fluently T'ai, Lao and Khmer have already infiltrated in Thailand as they did in Laos and Cambodia.

Yep War is Peace, but it is already late.

Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva is what you called a potato. He has an Asian skin color but inside of him is totally white. This kind of people look down at the poor uneducated people from the countryside. and very arrogant and racist.

Abhisit is not alone who is looking down on the poor Thai people at country sides, but the members of Thai royal monarchy like Sirikit, her crazy son Vajaralonhgkorn, her oldest daughter Ubolratana and the youngest daughter, and most elite and powerful Sino_Thais also the same. Only one is HRH Sirindhorn is a good person.

They are so arrogant people, they are richest and powerful with their Les Majesty Laws, Thai poor people are even suffering more.

King Pumipon has done many good things to his people, but he also has to side with the elite and powerful who are closed to him, and the one who is more powerful behind the King is Sirikit, his wife. She is no difference than all wives of the powerful men.

For the record Sirikit is the world richest queen.

Speaking of War is Peace, I read many articles in reference to Thammasat University, how many students were accused as Communists and were shot and at country side thousand of civilian Thais were killed by chemical droped on them. No Media or TV broadcasted of the killings back then but there are articles I found. Yes that war was peace, but is it stopping? No. Thai society should be more open and allow the Thai people to express their own opinions.

Thailand should abandon "Les Majesty Laws" and crown HRH Princess Sirindhorn as the next monarch, Thailand will be able to survive. Because both sides Red and Yellow many love the Princess not the crazy prince whose wife was a porn star naked at the pool party the whole world knew and saw about them.

Thai monarchy should be more open like British monarchy. After all there are some trash prince and princess like the rest of the world.

It's good news I'm hopes Isan people get there own dependance or split it away from Syam and come to side with Khmer.

Following comments on 11:12 AM and 2:19 PM, it is the best option for Taksin Sinawatra to try to take over and run the business in Cambodia. Isaan people and Khmer will easily integrate. They are hard working type of people and also come from the same origin, Khmer-Mon.

Taksin, you are 60 years old and you have another 20 years to serve your life. In the end of life, we take nothing with us, but your legacy will remain. You have already demonstrated your capabilities with the rural people, as long as you don't sell the new business to the Thai kindgom or Vietnamese communist.

Since independence from France, Cambodia has not gone anywhere and has got smaller and poorer, she really needs a new person to run and remember, Taksin, you have the Thai army as your life long enemy since the war on drugs in Bangkok.

Yes you can do the job.

3:09pm,

And sure Thailand has gone to the moon. It is light year away ahead of Cambodia in term of stability and democracry right? Really tranquil in Thailand southern province. And you PM Abby is overwhelmingly elected through a true democratic process.

No you don't want Thaksin to come run things in Cambodia, a door step away from Thailand. He would make PM Abby, and the current gov't really nervous. If this is the case Thaksin would cause the PAD backed gov't and the royal institution to loose sleep at night.

The last time I checked the current Thai gov't went to great lenght to label Thaksin as a terrorist and solicit help from Interpol. As a fugitive on the run Thaksin proved himself to be an effective menace to the illegitimate Thai gov't. Can you imagine what he would be able to accomplish if he is Cambodia's head of state, with a standing army? He is sure to give the Thai army the run for the money.
No, you don't want Thaksin that close. So keep your mouth shut if you don't know what you're talking about.

Cambodia always helped Thai people since the Mongol killing and the Burmese killing. When Akaset was a baby his mother hiding him in Battembang from the British bombing Thailand, Sangram was hiding in Cambodia when the British wanted to put him in jail and now if Thaksin wanted to hide himself in Cambodia so Cambodia is a welcome land of Thai people.

You all know that those poor Thai with Khmer origin are being looked down from those Thai/Jin (Thai/Chinese) from Bangkok a lot?

Most or the Northeast provinces are those with Khmer origins. Abhisit doesn't like them. Thai/Khmer origin made up like 20-25 million of Thai population.

As a Khmer, full-blood Khmer man who loved Khmer and always, I would love to see Thailand go down to hell. Thailand looks down on Khmer (Cambodian) and don 't appreciate the fact that they were original came from Khmer and looted such as lands, cultures and languages. Why Thailand become a revolution?

No. As a Khmer origin I would want to see Thailand stays strong and help Cambodia from ah Yuon Hanoi. Khmer & Siem share the same culture, we must preserve our culture before ah sakei daung Yuon destroy us.
I even want Siem and Khmer to become one nation under the monarchy and abandon "Les Majesty Mafia Laws".
I love to see King Sihamoni and Princess Sirindorn as our new monarch. They both are very hard working and very good people, in spite of their sex life from the rumour said King Sihamoni is gay and Princess Sirindhorn is a lesbain, I don't care.

9:25 pm,

How dare you like to bring the King and the Princes up in regarding to thier personal lives. Please DO NOT ever never say the word 'Gay' and 'Lesbain' here, it will spread word to the world. If your mother, father are 'Gay' would you open up to tell the world that your father is Gay? I don't believe the King and prince are 'Gay', they just don't want to deal with wife or husband, being along is better. Do you understand? I suggest that you should say someting eles beside the word 'Gay' in this forum. Your comment is inappropriate, it could hurt to the Cambodian and Thai people, like me. That's fine what you just said, Khun Youn' as bad as Khun Thai. KOA CHAI MAI? Do you understand 9:25PM? Thank you.

I'm GAY said...

What is the meaning of your nick name "Angkorian Kman"?
In a few Thais' blogs I read last night, Thais admitted that they love Princess Sirindhorn inspite of her being a Lesbian.
What is wrong of being gay or lesbian? Why are you so prejudice against them?

I am GAY and I am proud of myself being gay and being a very good citizen.

You are RACIST and Discriminate against Gay people. Shut up you bastard.

Dear 10:11 PM,
Well, to answer your questions, my nick name is ‘Ankorian Kman’ it means that my hometown is in Srok Phdak which is in Siem Reap province where the Angkor Wat is my state, about six miles from the temple heading to my home where I was born, thus I used ‘Angkorian’ as my nick name, and ‘Kman’ means Krama Khmer where I wrap up daily after work and as sleep wear as well, most of the people here known me by calling me ‘Krama Man’ thus I use ‘Kman’. I work at night and some day shift in Cambodia, as a police officer, I am a tough guy who has body-built and very attractive Cambodian man, I am devoiced and now I live alone. Also, I was a former Khmer Rouge soldier and had never killed anyone. I am aware of the word ‘GAY’, I am not to any racist or prejudice against gay people, I love every nationality and all citizens. Look Man! I notice here there even some Cambodian men or foreigner who works in Siem Reap are in loved with me and I am sure they like me to go to bed with them, but I don’ have time, if so, I would get some boxes. This does mean that I have to commit myself for money. I work so hard for my county and my people. I don’t know whether you are a Cambodian citizen or other citizen but please understand once again I am not a racist person as to what you stated in here.
