Cambodian children ask gov't for their one more holiday

Marking the International Children's Day, hundreds of Cambodian children urged the government on Tuesday to give them one more holiday from next year.

Men Sam On, Cambodia's deputy Prime Minister who was presided over the ceremony said she would convey the request to Prime Minister Hun Sen for consideration.

She said that children are the strong pillar of the society and are the significant source for the country's development.

According to Cambodia's calendar, the country enjoys 25-day holiday in 2010.

Cambodia's census in 2008 showed that the number of children aged 6 and more attending school or educational institution in Cambodia have increased from 2,488,235 to 3,390,690 (36.27 percent) during 1998-2008.

In the urban and rural areas the increases are from 573,941 to 697,760 (21.57 percent) and from 1,914,294 to 2,692,930 (40.67 percent) respectively.

Cambodia conducts census in every ten years.

OMG! Isn't Cambodian celebrate enough holidays already? I've never
seen any other countries who celebrate holidays like Cambodia. So enough is enough, get it! Go to school and educated!

children are also human. Women's day, Human Rights'day are holiday list why not children's day.
I support children's idea to claim for fair decision.
Every child has rights like adult.
More children's participation more development.
