The CPP’s decision to preserve the same 30-year-old premiership candidacy starts to generate major criticisms from both political and civil society communities, as well as from the public living in the countryside. By now, the public can expect that the same premier, who holds the same capacity, will lead Cambodia to the same imbroglio with the same problems, such as corruption, huge amount of foreign loans, major illegal flow of Yuon immigrants, border problems, etc…, etc…
Rong Chhun, President of the Cambodian Independent Teachers’ Association, who attacked nonstop the Hun Xen’s regime, indicated that the preservation of Hun Xen’s candidacy to the premiership will not bring any change to Cambodia besides preserving the current shameful status quo situation.
During the celebration of its 59th anniversary, the CPP which was originally known as the People’s Revolutionary Party of Kampuchea (PRPK), decided to preserve Hun Xen as its candidate for the premiership in the upcoming 2013 general election. Some political VIPs commented that this decision was made by the CPP to preserve the party’s internal cohesion and to avoid any internal dissensions, at a time when rumors are circulating that Hun Xen issued threats to others, telling them to accept to preserve his candidacy to the party premiership.

If A Hun Xen was still in power, the kingdom should be a province of Vietnam.

everybody, including the world, would like to see fresh face or new face of primiership candidate in some future national election, i think. i'm no politician, however, i think it is important to show some national reforms, have fresh ideas, etc in the political scene in cambodia. i think people a re sick and tire of fighting with each other forever; instead, everyone now seemed to want stability, prosperity, improvements, reforms, etc as cambodia is moving ahead into the future as a member of a responsible world citizen. yes, although cambodia is a nation, we are too a world citizen of nations. we have to conform to the modern world because when we travel the world, we see other nations developed in infrastructure, education and so forth. so, we feel left behind, not good, for a nation like cambodia. we leave the past in the arts of humanity, instead, we would like to move ahead with the rest of the modern world or developing world of nations, etc...
also, when one complains about "stale face", etc, don't forget to put into law the concept of "term limit". otherwise, your complain has no merit as there is no law to govern or to limit such candidacy, etc... now think about it! how can we fix this hot issue? i think we must seriously look into debating term limit law, at least for primiership candidacy. look at the USA for a change, please! of course, this law ought to have exceptional clause to it as well in time of war, etc, etc..., really! brainstorming and debating about it will open up the doors of opportunity equally for everyone who is qualified and fit for such powerful position. plus, it will prevent any future chaos like in the dark ages era in case of death, etc... this law is good to have for cambodia, i think. so far, no one in their right mind frame have talked about it. i think it would help fix a lot of power bickering in the future due to death or some other natural occurrences. please be enlightened!
