Dear KI-Media readers,
In memory of Sin Sisamouth, the King of Khmer Crooners, please allow me to share with you below a few of the "original" recording of his songs that I have collected over the years. You will find among these songs, some gems that were recorded in "stereo". If my recollection is correct, these songs in stereo were recorded in Hong Kong in the 60s.
The quality of these songs are somewhat uneven as some were directly recorded from vinyl, while others were re-recorded from cassette tapes.
Lately, after watching a new generation of Cambodian-American singers like Laura Mam and Panharee Thang, I do hope that these oldies songs would inspire a new generation of Khmer singers!

The Greatest Khmer Male Singer of All Time. His music and songs had contact with Khmers lives worldwide. May his music live on forever........
I agree hat Sin Sisamuth is the famous Cambodian singer.
But I hate new singers who say: " I want to sing good like Sin Sisamuth". We don´t need the stealer of Sin Sisamuth songs, but We do need new singers with their good voice and their new style. That means we need NEWINNOVATION from the new artists and not the PLAGIARISM.
We must move ahead!

Since my youth (in the late 50's) up to now I like to entertain myself by singing old songs of Sin Sisamouth, Chea Savoeun, In Yeng, and Duch Kimhak. Since my voice sounds similar to In Yeng's, I sing his song the most. I have been in Long Beach. I have some friends, one of whom has very nice voice. In the 70, 80, 90's he sang and admired only Sin Sisamouth's songs, but after the year 2000 his mind has turned up side down, and here is what he always say, "Among all Khmer singers of all time, Preab savath is the best. . .Sin Sisamouth wrote as many as 9 songs through his time"???. And now he sings only Preab Savath's songs. I think it's ridiculous indeed when he says Sin Sisamout wrote as many as 9 songs. Don't get me wrong, folks. I don't mean to give less value to new singers. Some of them are good too; but to me, not Preab Savath. Though my voice is not good as others singers', I am also singer. I like to listen to all singers and I find that no one can surpass Sin Sisamouth.
When Sinn Sisamouth died he took his voice with him...No One take his place! i love all of his songs, i'll buy every songs that he sing!
Thank you every much for songs
and I have finished downloading.
Lok Sin Sisamouth is the greatest. No one can compare to this man.
I grew up listening to only American songs and didn't understand what all the fusses all these old folks were saying about this man. Now that I'm older, I know why.... cuz NO ONE can ever come close to him. Not Elvis, Frank Sinatra, Michael Jackson, or any body else.

agree, cambodia should produce more great musician and singers, etc... yes, potential individuals or talented individuals can learn a lot from the late singers like samouth, sothea, ron, samorn, savoeun, etc, etc..., just to name a few of them. remember too that great voices have to have great musicians and song writers as well. they all go hand and hand like teamwork; that's how they all did it in the 1960s and 1970s cambodia, you know. and no attitude, ok! help each other out for improvement, etc... it's called being proactive and open-minded, ok! god bless cambodia.
If Lok Ta Sin Sisamouth still alive today...does his voice still good people? and how old is he..? i born in 1980 and have no idea?
i don't hate or don't dislike the new khmer singers or musicians. however, they need to sing different songs or if they sing other people's songs, they must acknowledge that out loud. of course, no one can sound like the great late singers and musicians, etc; however, new singers needs to create their own songs and stop plagiarizing the songs of the past singers, etc... i personally would prefer to listen to the original songs and lyrics of the past singers than to listen to the same songs being copied or repeated by new singers and musicians, really! people should be encouraged to create their own songs again, not just copying from the past khmer singers, song writers, musicians, etc., etc..., you know!
ps: if they borrow the songs of the past singers and sing for fun or for enjoyment of the holiday, etc, it is ok; however, do acknowledge or give proper credit to the past, original singers, ok! wake up, people. don't be so low life and a sore loser, ok!
those who copy other people's songs or works will never be popular in their own name. please be original; it's better for your reputation if you were to dream hitting big for yourself, etc..., really!
Please continue to share each other for what we have in our collections; it could be anything that we think it might useful for someone else.
Cin Sisamouth is the symbol of our modern time monument in music.

YOU are a low class individual.
You should call Sous Song Veacha with such a name.
Yes , Sin Simouth was s legendary Khmer singer.
A lot make Khmer singers have tried to sing like Sin Sisamouth, so far none came close,
until Sous Song Vichea!
Sin Sisamouth died long gone, ONLY Sous Song Vichea comes second, no others.
Beat it Boy ! Grow up !
Loops ! Corrections
should not call.....
was a legendary Khmer....
a lot of Khmer...
What NÉW style ?
Other style (s ) are not good for romantic songs.
To 1:10 AM and 12:49 AM ( Same poster ? )
To be a good singer, he or she needs two things:
1. Good natural voice, AND
2. Good singing style
Sin Sisamouth had both.
Early on Sin Sisamouth developed and practiced " Chreang Ror Laek ".
For slow romantic songs, this style is the best.
Not just only male Khmer singers, but also some Thai and Lao male singers as well have tried to sing like Sin Sisamouth.
Even when he was alive, some Khmer singers had tried to compete, and introduced a new, and different singing style but failed miserably. Anybody
remembers the returning student from Italy, Chum Kem ?
Throughout the years then and now, hundred of Khmer singers have tried to sing like their legendary idol Sin Sisamouth, none came close until Sous Song Veacha.
In fact I know of six songs that Sous Song Veacha sings BETTER than Sin Sisamouth. I can recall two right now:
Romduol Stung Sangke, and
Tom Nuoghn Tuoch Phnom
Try them yourself.
Unlike Sin Sisamouth, Sous Song Veacha is not a song writer nor a composer. He just sings for who ever wants or hires him to sing.
In addition, the new and young song writers and composers are NOT as good as their elders, such as Ma La Pee, Pov Si Pho, etc...
That's why the oldies are so good and being recorded and sung again and again.
I am a former student of Sin Sisamouth. Our country has lost one of our national treasures, Mr. Sin Sisamouth. Now comes Mr. Sous Song Veacha, who next ?
Let's enjoy and treasure it while we can !
Sous SongVeacha holds his own vocal if compare to Sinn Sisamouth. I love them both equally. There are many songs sang by Sous SongVeacha that I believe are better than Sinn Sisamouth. I wounder what has happened to SongVeacha and his health. Please get well soon and sing more songs for younger generations.
12:19 PM
Yes I agree with you.
When it comes to singing romantic songs, the singing style of Sin Sismouth and Suos Songvichea are the best.
Other male singers, including Thai and Lao have tried different styles but failed.
Since Sin Sisamouth has passed away, we hope and pray Suos Songvichea be in good health and carry on our national treasure !!!
