King Father Norodom Sihanouk will make the biggest mistake in his life if he does not take or use this opportunity to ask to meet with the Khmer people in Kampuchea Krom!
By meeting with them King Father can listen to their concerns and can use His prestige and friendship with Vietnam to act as a go-between person to help reduce their suffering and the injustices as much as possible.
Vietnamese officials, while on official visits to Cambodia recently, had asked to meet and speak with Vietnamese who are living in Cambodia and had also provided them with schools to learn Vietnamese and other materials to help make their lives in Cambodia a little bit better.
King Father can ask to do the same things under a humanitarian consideration and love for His Khmer compatriots. Such an honorable act will never be political, considering the fact that Vietnamese grip on Kampuchea Krom is currently unshakable anyway and Vietnam has no justifiable reasons to reject this request at all.
Going to visit Vietnam on its invitation as a private retired former King of Cambodia gives the King Father an advantage and a great opportunity to make such requests as His visit has nothing to do with the state affairs nor does it have anything to do with the current government of Cambodia who genuinely prefers to be subservient to Vietnam.
King Father, You must have the courage to request to visit the KKK people and bring them some gifts since You have never brought them any gifts in the past. This is the opportunity to show to the whole world that You always consider them your loved children.
Your advisors are not good at all, especially Prince Thomico who continues to look after his interests more than Yours.
Cambodian monarchy will die a disgraceful and painful death in the future and I can guarantee You on that fact if You have no courage to make those requests.
It is better for any monarchy to perish fulfilling its role to help the people in need and suffering than to live for a sole purpose of its own meaningless existence for we all know that to die in dignity for the people is to exist eternally in their hearts and this kind of death is quite memorable, courageous and purposeful.

Sihanouk should play his political games with Pouk Ah Youn. He knows better than Ah Hun Sen, but he is so............stupid to kill more than 1.7 million Khmers during his reign as Samdach Oeuv and Khmer Rouge leader.
Leave him alone. He is an old man. Let him live his last few year in peace. If Khmer Krom want freedom or automony from Vietnam, they must fight for themselves and not call themselves Vietnamese.
In the US, most Khmer Krom I know in school are identify themselves as Vietnamese, they speak vietnamese and hang around their Vietnamese friends. They don't join Khmer group.

To 10:48AM I had alots of friends are Khmer Krom alots of them they don't like Youn at all. We're used to fought with ah Youn in the U.S too. I've been lived over ten states in the U.S I knew alots of Khmer Krom people they're realy hates ah Youn so do I.

Khmer Krom are citizens of Viet Nam. They are one of the 53 or so ethnic minorities who make up the nation of Viet Nam. They are ethnic Khmer people with their own traditions and beliefs, but they are equal citizens in a multi-ethnic nation now called the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam.
Whatever may have been in the past, is the past. Now Khmer Krom are Vietnamese citizens, and all should work proudly together for the common good of all.
Those trying to stir up racial/ethnic hatreds, for their own political reasons, are not the true friends of anyone but themselves.
Sihanouk is a blood sucker . He betrayed people who have been following him. In 1970 he asked Khmer to join him and Khmer Rouge fighting the goverment of Lon Nol but , after Khmer Rouge took over Cambodia he allowed Khmer Rouge to kill 1.7 million of his own people . In the 80s ,he asked people to join him fighting the government and Vietnamese invading Cambodia but , after the Paris peace accord has been signed , he went to join Hun Sen and forgot all the people who have been following him at the khmer_Thai border. Thats whatihanouk is all about .

Khmer living in Vietnam may speak Khmer (their ethnic language) but their national language is Vietnamese. If they have a Passport, what country does it say they are from? They are Vietnamese! Do they vote in elections in Cambodia or Vietnam? They are Vietnamese! If they pay taxes, do they pay to Cambodia or Vietnam? They are Vietnamese!
If Cambodia would have peace, its parliment should adopt a law to obligate any Cambodian to go to Khmer school, if any one wants to lear Yuon, Cham or Chen, he must complete his Khmer secondary school first. Cambodia should be lived by Cambodians, if you dont want to be Cambodian, leave the country, if you want to live in the country, you must be Cambodian. If you are Cambodian, you must learn Khmer.
4:07 PM, you're not fair, you're wrong, Sihanouk was not Pol Pot boss, from the biginning, Sihanouk was in a prison like us, I was there, with them, Khmer rouges hated Sihanouk, Pol Pot obligated Sihanouk to resign in 1976.
In his own Sihanouk can't say or do much in term of Kumpuchea Krom interests because he already had opportunity to protest France before its parliament voted to cede Khmer land to Bao Dai in 1949.
He had forfeited and taken silent excuse to save his throne and head.
It's the same thing happened again as he had opportunity to voice concerns and opinion on Khmer territiry and people interests after signing 1991Paris Peace Accord but the foolish royal stooge opted to stay quiet to save his head,again.
There is no hope he will do anything for Khmer at this time,period,but only for his family.Do not hold your hope on him.
It's his death wishes to implore Yuon to help keep his son on the bloody throne.

Very thoughtful and compassionate comments. The points you raised are practicalities that ought not be overlooked by any public persona of Cambodia - retired or not - and no one is more symbolic of the nation than the former monarch.
As one famous Angkorian King proclaimed, nothing is more private to a king than the public sorrows of his subjects.

all monarchy in the world, not just in cambodia, should help contribute to the country in some way whether monetary form, humanitarian form, cultural form, education form, moral form, etc, etc, etc..., the list is endless, really! otherwise, what is the usefulness of have this ancient form of institution. of course, the world changed a lot since the dark ages, etc... so why not adjust their high role with that changes as well. i'm sure every nation love their monarch, and so in monarch should do something to help the country in return, etc... god bless the khmer monarch, etc...
Sihanouk only cares about his royal lineage to go on in cambodia. He does not care if Cambodia lost most of its territory to Yuon. As long as one of his sperms continues to sit on the throne, he is happy and pleased with the outcome. He is a disgraceful and spiteful person I have ever known and heard of. How shameful of him to plan visiting Vietnam and bragged about his good friendship with Yuon. Why don't he die and disappear from this planet so we don't have to hear about him anymore. I think therefore I undoubtedly believe our beloved former king, SihanoukVarman, can't historically or honorally compare to any King after JayVarman 7 during Khmer Empire. This is only my simple question, what has Sihanouk successfully accomplished by himself?
We Khmer unconscientiously give our recently boastful leaders too much credits which he has barely done anything, for example SenVarman? A lot of Khmer are unmeasurably grateful for SenVarman who heavenly sent by God to save us from the Killingfield! Did he really save us? When Youn repeatedly invaded us, which side was he with Heng Samrin or Pol Pot?

Neither Sihanouk nor Hun Sen is a respectable person. You see, both, the educated (suppose Sihanouk is) and the uneducated (Hun Sen) are very destructive to the country. Both care only about their personal interests, not the nation's.
We all know that Khmere Rouge and Sihanouk are enemy from the begining. He killed many accused KR in the past. I used to watch KR execution documented film when I was growing up.
Polo Pot was a Khmere nationalist, so he thought hard on what to do with him. He would kill Sihanouk if he thought about evenge. He kept him alive just for Cambodia in the future because Sihanouk was and is the national icon for Cambodia, either you wanted or not.
He recently called Viet Nam a croc, and in return Viet Nam issued an invitation with open to him. What do you think that is ????

Man,You look so racial, deaf, and even blind. You should have understood the histories of Cambodia decades ago. You know K Sophan, N Chea or Pol Pot ? Where did they come from before starting their stupid revolution? What happened after Lon Nol? And what made the Lon Nol Regime happend? And Who stayed behind it? You want to see the changes in Cambodia? What kind of changes you want? Think about that because Pol Pot they did want to see changes as well and they did change the whole Cambodia in their regime. They( K Somphan, N Chea...) finished their doctorate abroad and they used their lesson to change the country. Learn it, think about it man. His Majesty has done good things for his people and country also done the prime minister. But you i have no idea maybe NOT.
