[Mu Sochua] said that, should she be jailed, to please send her fried crickets to eat in prison, because she really likes them.
SRP MP Mu Sochua, who was involved in the lawsuit with Hun Xen, declared anew on Saturday that she will not pay her fine for losing her case to the latter and that she is willing to go to jail. Mrs. Mu Sochua’s claim was coincided with the last day set by the court ordering her to pay the fine compensation for Hun Xen, and only a few days prior to date set for her to pay her fine to the state coffer.
10 July is the last day set by the Phom Penh municipal court for SRP MP Mu Sochua to pay the $2,000 compensation to Hun Xen for losing her case to the latter in a defamation lawsuit. However, in the afternoon of Saturday, Mrs. Mu Sochua confirmed once again that she was maintaining her stance of not paying anything.
The letter issued by the Phnom Penh municipal court ordering her to pay her compensation was dated 29 June, it indicated that if she refuses to pay by 10 July, the court will take legal measure against her. According to legal experts, the legal measure as stipulated by the court could mean that the court could order a study of Mrs. Mu Sochua wealth or salary. Following that study, if she is found to have wealth, then it can be confiscated or her salary could be deducted. However, if she is found to own wealth and refuses to pay, she could be arrested also but, the legality must move forward to reach her arrest. In summary, her arrest cannot be made this Saturday.
In regards to paying her fine for the state coffer in the same lawsuit with Hun Xen, Mrs. Mu Sochua was ordered by the Phnom Penh municipal court judge to pay her fine on 16 July. The judge indicated in his letter that if she refuses to pay her fine, then he will ordered her arrested and sent to jail. However, Mrs. Mu Sochua said clearly on Saturday that she will refuse to pay anything, both the fine and the compensation to Hun Xen.
She confirmed again that she is not afraid to go to jail. Yesterday, while still having fried cricket snack in her hand, she told reporters that she is willing to go to jail. And she said that, should she be jailed, to please send her fried crickets to eat in prison, because she really likes them.
In regards to Mrs. Mu Sochua’s case, on Saturday afternoon, a roundtable study was held under the aegis of: “Should Women Remain Silent?”. The organizers of the roundtable issued a statement indicating that “garment workers, sex workers, beer-promotion women, university students, individual advocates, community members, moto-taxi drivers, vendors, farmers, union members, teachers, government officials, and NGO staff, we share an urgent concern regarding the freedom of speech in our country”, the case in point is the fact that Mrs. Mu Sochua lost her lawsuit to Hun Xen in this defamation lawsuit case.
The statement added that: “We support our sister Mu Sochua and the cause she has tirelessly dedicated her life to, human rights and particularly women and children's rights.”

At this moment, disgraced Mu Sochua and SRP stupid supporters can use USA and international community to scare to Cambodian government not to arrest her or say whatever they like but when the Court's order is expired on 16 July 2010, it will be different story.
When you have stepped in any country no matter what you don't like that country's law or accused it's unjust for you, but if you have been fined by the Court, you have no choice but have to pay the fine or going to jail. This is a common practice for the rest of the world. Unfortunately, disgraced Mu Sochua thinks otherwise! She wants to change the world into her own way and keen to use everything to promote her political stunt. Will the government uphold the rule of laws or allow her gets away unpunished? We will see in due course whether the law is strong or Mu Sochua is stronger than law???
