A Petition for All Cambodians:
Khmer citizens, garment workers, sex workers, beer-promotion women, university students, individual advocates, community members, moto-taxi drivers, vendors, farmers, union members, teachers, government officials, NGO staff, and global citizens, share an urgent concern for the future of freedom of speech in Cambodia.
In view of the serious concerns regarding the criminal charges against Member of Parliament H.E. Ms. Mu Sochua relating to the defamation of Prime Minister Hun Sen, please support our sister Mu Sochua and the cause she has tirelessly dedicated her life to, human rights and particularly women and children's rights.

Dear Royal Government of Cambodia:
For nearly three decades, there have been significant development efforts to improve the situation of women in Cambodia, focusing particularly on living standards, education, healthcare, and the rule of law. We appreciate efforts from all in Cambodia, most especially the Royal Government, and what we ask for is more—more support and additional concrete commitments to advance women’s human rights for all Cambodian women. Government responses to women’s issues are still limited in practice, even though their rights have been discussed extensively by the authorities as well as human rights defenders and civil society. As a result, discrimination against women continues. The number of women who hold high positions is still less than that of men; only twenty-two percent of Cambodian parliamentarians are women. Yet, this does not reflect an increase in decision-making power. There is still a lack of freedom of expression, enforced human rights, and an equitable judicial system. Ultimately, this discourages women from pursuing politics.
As Khmer citizens, garment workers, sex workers, beer-promotion women, university students, individual advocates, community members, moto-taxi drivers, vendors, farmers, union members, teachers, government officials, NGO staff, and global citizens, we share an urgent concern regarding the freedom of speech in our country. We believe in the potential that Cambodia has to become a great nation respecting equality and rights for all. Therefore, in view of our serious concerns regarding the criminal charges against Member of Parliament H.E. Ms. Mu Sochua relating to the defamation of Prime Minister Hun Sen, we must step forward. We support our sister Mu Sochua and the cause she has tirelessly dedicated her life to, human rights and particularly women and children's rights.
MP Mu Sochua is a role model offering hope and a voice to women throughout Cambodia and the world. Allowing Mu Sochua to be imprisoned will not only take away one of Cambodia’s most important political figures and human rights advocates but will also symbolically undermine the voice of all Cambodian women.
We call on the Royal Government of Cambodia to show strong commitment and take more visible responsibility in the promotion of:

I don't think oily and thick face woman Mu Sochua is brave enough not pay the fine but happy to serve jail time. In 2008, when a coward Sam Rainsy was fine 10 Million Riel by the NEC during national election campaign, he always refused to pay the fine, but when he had run out of option and no where to go, on 26 February 2009, SRP officer brought money to pay off the fine.
As for Mu Sochua's case, she has been used the same tactic like her boss. If she goes to jail, she won't dare to spend the whole jail term, but she might spend a short time in jail to promote her political stunt and then instructs someone as her lawyer to pay the fine.
Disgraced Mu Sochua and Sam Rainsy as well as other SRP supporters, they are brave only in front of microphone or computer but when they face with jail time, they will bow their head to the ground or run away to overseas. Indeed, they are shameless in speaking louder more than they can do because they are thick face group and loser.
