Preah Vihear Temple's UNESCO World Heritage Site Listing Anniversary

Cambodian dancers perform during a celebration to mark the second anniversary of the naming of Cambodia's famed Preah Vihear temple as a world heritage landmark in Preah Vihear province, about 245 kilometers (152 miles) north of Phnom Penh, Wednesday, July 7, 2010. Two years ago the 11th century Hindu temple was enlisted as UNESCO's World Heritage site despite protests by opposition groups in neighboring Thailand. (AP Photo/Heng Sinith)

Besides from singing and dancing, it would be nice if those pretty APSARAS are able to handle AK47 to defend Preah Vihear against siamese encroachment.

Proud To Be Khmer said...

"Khmer's Hindu styled temple" would be more correct than just "Hindu temple". Shame on you AP.

i think people should call ancient khmer temple, although built to worship hinduism gods at the time when cambodia was influenced by hundism; don't forget to say or mention that it is "khmer built ancient hindu temples", not just plain hundi temple because it is misleading for some readers who knows nothing about khmer history to think that hundi temples are in india. it is khmer built hindu temples, ok! that is more correct than to deny the fact by just stating "hindu temples", etc... it is KHMER BUILT hindu temples, ok! we must educate siem to say it correctly! again, who built these hindu temples in the khmer empire? "khmer built hindu temples", ok!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why don't Ly Diep spend time writing about Preah Vihear temple...and educate the world to know that it is a Khmer Hindu worship temple...instead of writing nonsense about Sihanouk...
