The conflict over Preah Vihear should be brought back into the framework of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed by Thailand and Cambodia in 2000, Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva said on Thursday.
The MoU was about demarcating the boundary of Preah Vihear temple. The work was carried out by the Thai-Cambodia Joint Commission on the Demarcation of the Land Boundary (JBC).
Mr Abhisit said the sidelines meeting between Thai and Cambodian diplomats during the World Heritage Committee meeting in Brazil had not been fruitful.
"Thailand has made it clear that we will accept Cambodia's management plan for the temple only if the temple is jointly listed between the two countries," he said.
The WHC approved Cambodia's listing of Preah Vihear temple as a World Heritage site two years ago.
Responding to Cambodia foreign minister Hor Namhong's comments that Cambodian troops would fire at Thais who intrude into the disputed land, Mr Abhisit said that Thai security forces were prepared in case of violence.
He also said that Thailand's stance is not that much different from Cambodia's.

I have enough of Mr. Abhisit and his yellowshirt cohorts’s provocative attitude. If they want to bully us, let’s invite our friends Mr. Thaksin and other redshits to Cambodia for some “economic” forum.
Just study the way this Thai Abhishit talks. He has no interest in solving the issue but rather use stalling tactics unless they are including in the plan. That is why I call the trouble maker Thai prime minister. They are so childish.

Thailand will never stop, people. Thailand had mismanaged the remaining Khmer territory since they defeated the Khmer stronghold in Lovek. Thailand will always get jealous of the Vietnamese who managed to grab more and more Khmer territory from the Thais in the past and in the present. For example, while the Thais got tied up with the Burmese, the Viets stole more and more Khmer territory of the Mekong Delta from the Thais (Khmer territory was then a protectorate of the Thais). After defeating the Burmese, the Thais went down to the Mekong Delta Region to fight the Viets but were unable to push the Viets out of the Khmer Mekong Delta region. The Thais remembered the Viets well. Then the French came along and took over the entire Khmer Mekong Delta (renamed as CoChin China) as their own possession, while the Thais continued to look on. Then the French forced the Thais to enter into a treaty that demarcated the boundary line between Siam and IndoChina Cambodge. The French also created the boundary line between CoChin China and IndoChina Cambodge. Yet, the Thais continued to look on. Then the old geopolitics returned to Southeast Asia when the French were finally defeated by the Japanese forces. What anger the Thais the most is that with the French gone, the Viets can still force Hun Sen to enter a border treaty of 1985 to allow the Viets to legally take more Khmer land areas and more Khmer islands from the sea. The Thais are continually angry. Before the French, the Western parts of Cambodia including Preah Vihear region were parts of Siam. During WW2, the Thais return to take back those areas back, but got unlucky because the Japanese were defeated and had to return the Khmer territory back to the French. However, the Viets continue to get lucky over and over. The Viets get to keep the huge chunk of the Khmer Mekong Delta Region and now are able to force Hun Sen to sign a legal bordy treaty of 1985 to legally allow the Viets to grab more land and islands from Cambodia. Thais want Hun Sen to sign a legal treaty to allow them to grab more land from the Preah Vihear region as well. So they will never stop because the Viets do not stop stealing more land from the Khmer. The Thais will always claim that the Khmer territory belonged to them first, not the Viets. So they will find a way to force Hun Sen to sign a border treaty. Thais are never afraid of Hun Sen and his ally the Viets or the Lao. Thais fought the Viets before and Thais are always prepared to take Hun Sen and Hanoi head on just like they did in the past.
The Thais will never stop because the Viets do not stop grabbing more lands and islands from Cambodia. The Thais say the French already left a demarcation lines between Cambodia and Vietnam, so how come the Viets continue to be successful at getting more territory from Hun Sen in the present. If the Viets can challenge the French-made border line between Cambodia and Vietnam, then to the Thais, they feel that it is perfectly fine to challenge the French-made borderline between Siam and IndoChina (Cambodia). The Thais say when the French left, the Viets were able to get more land from the Khmer, so they should be getting more land from the Khmer as well because the French are no longer around to protect the Khmer. The Thais say if the Viets can get more territory from the Khmer through war, then it is also an option for them to test the Khmer as well in order to get more land from the Khmer. Just like the French consider Cambodia its colony, just like the Viets consider Cambodia its colony, the Thais will never sit still and they continue to consider Cambodia still a colony of Thailand.

(1)The Yuons forced Hun Sen to sign border treaty of 1985 and as a result, Cambodia's Koh Tral and a number of smaller Cambodia's islands fell into the hands of the Yuons. Khmer farmers continue to lose their farm land to the Yuons. Even the founding father of the Hun Sen's CPP faces losing his native birthplace to Vietnam because of the Border Treaty of 1985. Why is there a need to sign a border treaty when the French already demaracated the boundery between CochinChina and Cambodge?
(2) Thailand wants Hun Sen to do the same to them as Hun Sen did FOR the Vietnamese. If the Viets can just say f*ck to the French demarcation limits, then the Thais can choose to say f*ck to the French made demarcation limits as well.
