Unesco delays pondering management plan to tonight

Unesco's World Heritage Committee has decided to postpone consideration on the controversial Preah Vihear Temple management plan from yesterday to tonight.

The postponement came after Cambodia's representatives requested an urgent talk with Thai Natural Resource and Environment Minister Suwit Khunkitti who is at the WH committee meeting in Brazil.

The panel will decide the matter again at about 10pm Bangkok time.

Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva yesterday considered options to retaliate against Unesco if the WH Committee approved the controversial Preah Vihear temple management plan.

PM revealed the option although the United Nations agency has guaranteed that the Hindu temple's inscription has nothing to do with the disputed border areas with Cambodia.

Among the options suggested by ministers was for Natural Resource and Environment

Suwit Khunkitti threatened to stage a walkout, and withdraw Thailand's membership from the Unesco committee.

Abhisit blamed the Unesco committee for listing Preah Vihear, which had created conflict between the two neighbouring countries. "If Unesco accepts the plan, it will create a wide rift between the people of the two countries," he was quoted by a source as saying at the Cabinet meeting.

Abhisit had instructed Suwit to lobby for a delay of the Preah Vihear management plan until the border dispute with Cambodia could be settled.

Thai government should respect the world law not respect only your king and make the neighbors get harmful in your ambition.
Thai government always kill khmer people around the border because they like to show the world that they can kill Cambodian people in all the time they want.
Thus this time if thai can negociate UNESCO not allow Cambodian to develop the world heritage in Cambodia means that thai can kill Cambodian in anytime as they attempt for...
I hope the world will help Cambodia in living peacefully and help this poor country to develop what they want.

I am not sure what your point is but it is full of shit. Most Thai people never think that we are superior to others. There is also no proof that government does kill Cambodian people near border. Stop lying!

This issue is very sensitive and needs careful consideration. Each country needs to protect his own interest and territory. Time is needed.

Just arguing base on facts!

First Preah Vihear temple located in Cambodia according to international map and it is under Cambodian sovereignty!

Now what part does Siem leaders don't understand? Unless Siem leaders want to bully Cambodia into war!

Siem naked aggression will not be rewarded!

unesco should do the right thing by not bending to siem illegal claim from cambodia. i'm sure cambodia will seal off our borders and prevent siem from entering cambodia to see preah vihear forever, it unesco failed to abide by the international law by playing siem's game!

Since Hun Sen was a Khmer Rouge commander, now a Khmer Rouge leader and had many of his political opponents and journalists assassinated, I wonder if he have any plan to assassinate the Thai Prime Minister (Ahbullshit Vejjajiva)?
