A jealous factory worker in Cambodia attacked his partner with acid Wednesday, also hurting three onlookers, police said.
The 22-year-old man poured a bottle of acid over his 23-year-old female partner because of problems with their romance, said police Maj. Born Sam Ath. It happened outside the garment factory where they both work on the outskirts of Phnom Penh as she was buying sugar cane juice.
The woman was hospitalized in a critical condition. Two vendors and another woman standing nearby was splashed and suffered minor injuries. Police are hunting for the attacker.
Acid attacks that inflict horrific disfigurement on victims are not uncommon in this Southeast Asian nation. A non-governmental group that assists victims reported 10 such assaults in 2009.
Cambodia's legislature this year began drafting a new law to deal with acid attacks. Perpetrators are currently tried under general criminal law, but it is believed specific legislation with heavy punishments is needed to curb the vicious practice.

Authority must punish this attacker in jail for life, don't allow him or her see day light..? they must put this guy behind bars for life!!!!!
The attacker has to be punished! otherwise case like this will rise!
I don't want to see many disfigure in my country! it becomes a habit now when they are jealous!
Put them in jail/pour the acid bak to the attacker, like this it's fair!
everytime i heard about acid attack in cambodia it discourage me not to visit the country. the government should control the use of acid.
How come they're never catch those person that committed that stupid crimes. If you never catch them that idiots person they gonna keeps doing again and again. When you do catch them gives those mother fuckers a good lesson in the fucking cell let some faggot people in these crews the ass for good.
1:55am, yeah you shouldn't come here. This country has no place for cowards or PARANOIA. LOL There are millions of visitors here yearly and I don't think acid attack was one of the thing that pops in their mind.
I've been living here for over years now and I can assure you that it's safer than some of the neighborhoods you guys live there.
