“She is angry with what happened to her brother.”
The Documentation Center of Cambodian has begun a series of film screenings across former Khmer Rouge strongholds to help explain the recent UN-backed tribunal verdict for Kaing Kek Iev, or Duch.

The screenings have drawn former soldiers of the regime, some who believe the commuted sentence of 19 years of Duch was “reasonable,” while others believe he should have received life in prison, said Chhang Youk, director of the center.

The documentary explains Duch's role as director of Tuol Sleng prison, known to the Khmer Rouge as S-21, where more than 12,000 people were tortured and sent to their deaths.

A recent screening, in Battambang province's Samlot district, took place at a church five minutes from Duch's former home, where he was arrested in 1999.

Duch's sister still lives in the area, but she did not attend the screening.

She is angry with what happened to her brother,” Chhang Youk said. She feels partly responsible for his arrest and is angry “it is only he who has been tried,” he said.

Still, more than a hundred former Khmer Rouge soldiers did attend in Samlot, a mountainous area that served the Khmer Rouge since an initial revolt over taxes there sparked the movement, mostly of peasants.

Concerning Khmer Rouge!..What do you want to be done regardign Khmer Rouge? How much money do receive from the world? You better get yourself to work and taking of your family. It's been too long, it past, we all should look into the furture for our country. Do you understand Khmers?

I am so sick and tired seeing news, media regarding Khmer Rouge. As I had mentioned on my previouse message that I was a former Khmer Rouge soldier. Once again regarding Khmer Rouge trail, What do you still want?

Mr. Former Khmer Rouge Soldier,

I want accountability for the past actions of these KR leaders.

Perhaps you can forget about it since you are part of the KR regime yourself, but by no means you have a right to stop me from wanting to see some justice done.

If you are sick and tired about it, stop reading any articles with the word KR in there. Nobody asks you to read it.

Don't you dare come and tell us what to do with your KR attitudes.

It is a KR like you who shows absolutely no remorse which I cannot and will never forgive!

This is to show that the court in Cambo is useless. To them this is a game, it is all about monies but to the citizens, this is an insulting. How can it be justified by lossing millions of lives through tortured and only to get what, a slap of 19 years?, this doesn't make sense?.In Aust, USA and other European nations e.g if you kill someone through torture let say he is 20 years old and this person could live up to says 100s, the perpetrator had to be jailed for at least 80yrs, substition of a victim's life and depending on how many lives he takes as well. In Duch's case, he took 14'000 lives, so he has to be jailed at least 1400 years or more because of the pain and suffered that these people had to endure!!!!. Aust

DUCH LOOKS LIKE A LITTLE KID IN THIS PICTURE. A mean and deadly little kid that for sure. No wonder 14000 people who came to his camp end up being dead worse than an animal.

It is obvious that comrade Duch was a young hellraiser selected by someone in the administration from that time, which was infiltrated by a neighboring country/authoritarian country. The one who overall, overseen and legitimized this genocide machine process until this day is the mother fuckin king Norodom Sihanouk!!

Angkor Akman,
you may be not bad but you are not lucky and that's all,
you went to jungle because you had nothing else to do or you really wanted to liberate your country, that's very good.
The problem is, from 1975 to 1979, you killed, ordered to kill or not ?
If you killed or you ordered to kill, you are BAD. If not, you are a hero.
Pol Pot and team,
KANAK-PHOUMI-PHEAK,
KANAK-DOMBON,
KANAK-SROK,
KANAK-KHUM
were BAD because most of them killed and ordered to kill.

Khmer rouges soldiers were always weak, the prove is in 1979, every body saw how they run, they were strong only against innocent Khmers with tied hands, they win Lon Nol soldiers because Lon Nol soldiers were more weak than Khmer rouge soldiers.
Their leader were worse, because of their bad will, they had power and they finished by giving it to Vietkong, poor incompetent.
