The Khmer Republic could have worked and had a future if it had the right leadership in place. Sirik Matak should have just taken complete control of both the military and the government and sacked the incompetent Lon Nol along with many undisciplined military officers.

100 loony traitorous Sihanouks plus 100 ah Yuon prostitute Hun Sens can never equal 1 Khmer Hero Sirik Matak.

If the Khmer Republic would have survived to this day, ah Hun Sen would have been a skinny one-eyed blind peasant with a missing leg begging in the streets of Tuol Kork in soiled clothing right this moment.

I concur with you, the top command of the FANK was full of Sihanoukists (though capable were corrupted to the bones).
Only Privates up to Majors were pushing to get themselves killed for the big brasses for nothing. The idea of a coup to run these old guards out of town was brewing then but it was too late...

It has been an established Khmer tradition that the little indians must do all the fighting and heavy lifting while the chiefs showed up during the day and gone home (or go to their mistress at night).

I suspect that the remnants of the KR peasants/warriors/murderers who are wearing stars like christmas tree, now parading in their mismatched BDU drabs in Phnom Penh, by this time have pretty much learned to follow the foot step of the previous regimes.

Truthfully I am ashamed of the VC combattants (officers and troops) their motivation and discipline deserve sincere admiration. They have certainly proved their worth - they got us Khmer by the tail.

Been there, done that...

Colonel POK SAM IM and Admiral VONG SARENDY were in the same Royal Naval Academy with our Hero LY NGOC YIEP ( LY DIEP)at the time LY DIEP was a very young Officer just finished Fifth Grade the same time and class with Communist Lieutenant HUN SEN.
I highly respect Col. POK SAM IM and Admiral VONG SERENDY for their commitments for KHMER REPUBLIC.
I am so glad to hear our Hero LY DIEP just survived I. C .U .

Being Khmer, I have very mixed emotions when it comes down to the Vietnamese people. I have many Vietnamese close friends and colleagues, but at the same time I can't help but resent how their people treated us throughout history. My resentment also comes hand in hand with admiration. To be honest, I admire how the Vietnamese people have so much unity and discipline and national ambition. This of the Vietnamese I envy. I WISH Cambodia had that type of determination.

Vietnam is still here to today because it fought to be preserved and its leaders perseverance showed it. Cambodia only exists because we are hanging on the limbs of other nations which saves us from total extinction.

I love Cambodia. I love it to complete undying stance. I just think that there were many missed opportunities in the past to dig us from our grave, but our leaders either abandon us or only cared for themselves. We had potential and wasted it.

By the way, I'd like to research on the USe & military Organisation of the M-113 APC's squadrons within the FANK during the War.
I'd write an history about the use of this vehicle by the FANK.Could some infantery's veterans knows this?

"Within three days, a man can meet and marry the Vietnamese bride of his dreams, one typical marriage agency claims. The Vietnamese woman will be faithful, submissive, between the ages of 18 and 25 and a virgin, the agency promises. Indeed, the potential bride's background is much better vetted than the man's: one popular Singapore-based"

wATH'S AGOOD COUNTRY! YOUR MOTHERFUCKER WANT TO BE? 9:00pm

None could help you, Khmer republicans, even GOD.

With 100 soldiers per battalion, you can fight against no body.

Khmer republicans lost the war because of their weakness, not because of Khmer rouge strength.

Khmer rouges were very weak but Khmer republicans were worse.
