The Foreign Ministry has submitted a letter to Vietnam, the current chairman of ASEAN, to protest against the Cambodian government's attempts to bring a third party into the border dispute surrounding the Preah Vihear Temple.
The Thai government has lodged a letter of protest with Vietnam, the chairman of ASEAN, against the Cambodian government's attempt to draw international interference in the border dispute surrounding the Preah Vihear Temple.
Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya submitted the letter to the Vietnamese Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Khiem, asking the current ASEAN chairman to pass along the explanation about the border dispute to other ASEAN foreign ministers.
The Foreign Minister of Thailand has expressed its gratitude to ASEAN for its concern regarding the dispute and insisted that it will remain patient in solving the problem.
However, Bangkok has expressed its desire for bilateral talks with Cambodia, without any intervention by a third party.
The letter sent to Vietnam also repudiates accusations Cambodia has made about Thailand.
The Thai government also pointed out that despite the ongoing diplomatic row, daily interaction and the cooperation between the people of both countries remain normal along the border.
Thailand has also informed ASEAN members that the Cabinet has submitted a proposal by the Joint Border Committee to the Parliament for its consideration in accordance with the Kingdom's charter, which guarantees freedom of expression. Therefore, this should not been seen as a delay tactic.
Bangkok has also expressed confidence that Thailand and Cambodia can remain close friends and will overcome the border dispute for the benefit of the people in both countries.
Thailand is also seeking to resume bilateral negotiation with the Cambodian government as other ASEAN members had recommended two years ago.

No one will trust Thailand any more..! Why Thailand wanted the dispute be solved bilaterally while the it doesn't work? Why Thailand is trying to hide the truth from the regional and international involvement? What is the main cause that Thailand does want the involvement from regional and international bodies?
Obviously, Thai took so much land, build, paved new road, installed Thai signs. UN involve Khmer will get those land back, and there is no way Thai can get Preah Vihear, and 4.5 KM of land around proximity. Thai will do anything not to get third party involve. For those who took Khmer land, as long as their is a Khmer surive we will get our land back, it does not mater how long will take.
Remember!!! I don't want International to get into my business coz i have so many things to hide and I want to swallow the whole Preah Vihear and whole Khmer empire if Khmer leader agree to talk bilitteral it is my success!!! come on talk only two of us(Cambodia & Thailand) then I will share you some money ok !!
now I don't want to listen to international any more now my country become tyrant regim lead by me from Oxford University ! and the servant of the foolish King Bhumbol Abdul Yadeth
How can a robber want to complaint to the Polic?? Robber always want to talk to ownere as much as possible so they will still alive and get some thing and can not be arrested at all so if Khmer government believe the the sweet word of Abullshit then Khmer will lost everything !!
The reason Thai dont want International Interference in border dispute because Thai has something to hide . Therefore , we Cambodian no need to talk to Thai anymore because talking with Thai alone has never been working .
siem only do and play the winning game. They only stand for theire benefit. Who amart than who?
OK, Cambodians must not resolve this problem with ASEAN but with UN.
Thais want to steal Phrea Vihear quietly without interference from the ASEAN. Or it will not work.
mreas prov
You got to be a fool to believe Thailand's intention. Delay tactic is still very a delay tactic. All the talks are just to fool the internal community and Cambodia to agree and then there are nothing. Here are key words to watch out for: patience, bilateral, required by Thai law, protests by PAD Thai ect... Thai government is very unsure of what they are doing other by not resolving anything using delaying tactics.
Thai learned the lesson the hard way since 1962 .They will never need third party intervention again .If the will ,they will lose again big time.
Hey K1...why are Cambodia not sending Miss Cambodia to the world Universe?????
When one of the parties file a complaint to any higher authority either ASEAN or UN, it is enough of the warrant for ASEAN or UN to take up the case. Regardless of the other party's objection.
Here's a scenario : I am taking you to court. And you would say to me that I can't because you're not agree to it [that me is taking you to the court].
It will come to the UN to settle once and for all for the benefits of avoiding the possible bloodshed between Khmer and Thai.
Vannak
Vannak, the problem is ASEAN and UN are not a court and there is no court in this world.
You're strong you win.
USA entered into the Alganestan and Irak, any country dares do something ? NO.
Russia entered into Gorgia, any country do something ? NIET.
International court is created only for REPUBLIC OF BANANAS..
