20 August 2010 – Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon today offered to help Cambodia and Thailand resolve their differences over a disputed temple area along their common border.
Tensions escalated between the two neighbouring South-East Asian nations in July 2008 following the build-up of military forces near the Preah Vihear Temple in Cambodia.
The temple, which dates back to the 11th century, was inscribed on the World Heritage List of the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) earlier that month.
The row turned deadly in October of that year when two people reportedly died during an exchange of fire between Thai and Cambodian forces near the site.
“The Secretary-General hopes that Cambodia and Thailand will resolve the dispute along their border amicably through dialogue,” UN spokesperson Farhan Haq told reporters in New York.
“He stands ready to help the parties,” Mr. Haq added.

This is an extremely rare offer from the UN secretary to assist us resolving the conflict. In my life, I never beg any one, but this time I would beg you or even kneel down on my knee to you and ask you to unconditionally take the UN offer to solve the temple dispute with Thailand; This is the only way to send an unequivocally clear message to Thais that they can not continue to bully and look down on us.
Please don't let this opportunity get away. We may never get it again.

Abhisit Vejjajiva' government must trust, explain with evidence, to UN as mediator about it's claim on Preah Vihear Temple issued.

I disagree with this report. The UN report, due to intense lobby by Thai diplomats at the UN, put the same level of responsibility to Thai, the agressor, and Cambodia, the agressed or victim. In fact, everybody knows, the tension arose from the listing of Preah Vihear Temple as World Heritage that undermines Thailand's long sought goal of taking it back. Every Khmer is fully aware that the ICJ ruling of 1962 is a big bone in Thai throat they can't swallow. They (Thais) just keep waiting for the right time to reconquer. So only one week after the listing of Preah Vihear, Thailand sent their troops to occupy Preah Vihear surrounding areas, especially the Pagoda Keosikkha Kiriswara.

I think Abhisit who was educated in Oxford should understand this sentence very well, and especially the word "in Cambodia".
THE BEST SOLUTION IS THAI NEED USE ALL MEANS TO FORCE HUN SEN OUT OF POWER FIRST AND INSTALL A NEW CANDIDATE SUCH AS MP SAM RAINSY AS A NEW PRIME MINISTER OF CAMBODIA BEFORE SETTING BILATERAL TALK.
UN should teach siem a lesson in international law, etc!
