We are not sure whether this one is again a rumor like the one where Angelina Jolie was said to be playing the role of legendary actress Marilyn Monroe. But the buzz is that a movie is being planned to be produced in Cambodia. The announcement was made on Wednesday in Phnom Pehn, by proposed the movie’s project manager Thomas Magyar and the project co-coordinator Tony Schiena. The title of the film is ‘Great Khmer Empire”.
The duo announced that it will be a massive and exhausting project as they will have to consult the Cambodian government and historians to gather accurate history. The film will take almost three years for making and it will cost approximately U.S. $ 70 million.
Schiena and Magyar stated that apart from Jolie they are looking into other famous stars those who can be part of the project. They have in mind the Chinese action hero Jet Li, John Cena of the World Wrestling entertainment and Song Hye Kyo a famous South Korean movie actress. It is likely to be a historical film focusing on the history of Cambodia during the reign of King Jayavarman the VII at 11th and 12th century. It is during this time the Angkor Wat Temple of Cambodia was built.
Angelina Jolie has previously shot her film ‘Lara Croft: The Tomb Raider’ at the Siem Reap province that also has the famous Angkor Wat Temple. She also adopted her eldest son Maddox from Cambodia and was also given Cambodian citizenship for her conservation work there.

I am waiting for this to happen and already known some film industries out there want to make a movie about the khmer empire well thanks to JOlie that made this happend and she is also a Cambodian Citizen.
Wow. Hollywood is shooting a movie in Cambodia. This is unheard of. Finally Hollywood comes to recognize Cambodia. Anyway, Anjolina Jolie is the RIGHT choice. All I am saying is that please no conical hats. That would be a sore for the eyesight for sure.
I hope they really do diligence, seek and get supports from real historians and governments. A national legacy, identity, and pride is being unfolded on the silver screens throughout the world. The Royal Cambodian Government better gets their act together to help getting this perfectly right. Remember, the low life siems will be on this project like a hawk. They will try to discredit it in any way they can. Not long ago, they tried to re-write history about our King Jayavaraman VII by attempted to make their version of movie about him. That was ludicrous.

i hope they display real khmer custome and identity, etc in the planned movie. yes, no conical hats as that is unkhmer, really! they should include the ballet ballet dancers, khmer court royal music, khmer beautiful temples, countryside, etc, etc... hollywood should research about khmer history and culture, identity, custom and etiquette, etc to portrait true khmer identity and khmer beautiful that at the peak of the khmer civilization represented the best of ancient cambodia. god bless my country cambodia and the beautiful khmer culture, people, etc...
they should make the ladies hairdo to look exactly like the devatas or apsara on the wall of angkor wat temple and more. ancient khmer culture were rich in precious ornamental jewelry worn by the god-kings and the khmer elites, etc... remember too that the royal court of the ancient khmer god-kings were warrior in their fiercest appearances, etc... don't forget of portrait in the movie real khmer costume, customs and etiquette, khmer true identity, etc...
please display or portrait in the movie the rich khmer royal court of the god-kings of angkor civilization. ancient khmer court wore real gold and silver ornaments, headdresses, fabric, etc as seen on the the walls of angkor wat, the bayon temple, etc... please include them in the movie for real khmer pictures and culture and identity, etc... play real khmer royal court music, not fake foreign music, please!
useless of all film which was produced by the foreigners. they are just taken benifits and showing the new modern style of the other counries though Khmer land which is nowaday Cambodia is wellknown on corruption in Khmer rouge tribunal.

One thing my concern is Mr.Jet li, if his role to be a main charactor player of the film it is not facinating, not about his talent but his phisical package is not fit to Cambodien King or person. In the film you should serching some hollywood star which is, i- of course asian man looking, 2- Phisical strong characteristic such as Hair, Jar bone(Jagua cat Jar)not a sharp chin and the walk and motionly according to Khmer language 3- The skin collour should be darker et...I am trying to help to make this MOVI more attrative.

i think hollywood, nowadays, make make or alter a person's appearance to look like the real khmer powerful god-kings that built beatiful khmer temples during their reign, etc... it probably cost a lot of money to make but it's worst it to show the world through the movie about cambodian rich ancient heritage, etc. after all, khmer was an empire during the 11th to the 12th century, so, there were a lot of stories of power, intrigues, etc, etc... about that. remember too that during that era, god-kings usually came to power through war and struggle, not vote or election like we have today, you know!
