The death of two Khmer Krom men at the beginning of September 2010 has not been legally resolved by the Viet authority yet.
On 16 September, A SRP MP asked high-ranking Viet officials to intervene in order to arrest the suspects or the murderers who led a mob beating and killing on 2 Khmer Krom men, and injuring 11 others at the beginning of September. The beating and killing was done by a mob of Viet villagers in Raung Damrey province (renamed Tay Ninh in Vietnamese) on Kampuchea Krom land (South Vietnam).
SRP MP Yont Tharo sent a letter to Son Son Song, a member of the Vietnamese Communist party central committee and deputy chairman of the southwest region of Vietnam, through the intermediary of the Viet embassy in Phnom Penh. However, no Viet diplomat dare came out to accept this letter.
Yont Tharo told RFA on 16 September: “I am asking him to help intervene for the family of the victims in order to provide justice for them, because, up to now, the Khmer Krom men were victimized for more than two weeks already. The cops still have not arrested the culprits, nor charge them according to the law yet.”
The killing took place on 02 September 2010 at a Viet rubber plantation in Raung Damrey province. The family of the victims claimed that the killing was due to a racial discrimination dispute. A mob of several dozen Viets used batons and knives in the killing.
Chau Net, a 22-year-old Khmer Krom man who was born in Rolaing commune, Svay Tong district, Motr Chrouk province (renamed An Giang in Viet) was killed on the spot, and another Khmer Krom man, Chau Phat, who was born in Banteay Svay commune, Svay Tong district, Motr Chrouk province, later died at the hospital.
A Viet embassy official in Cambodia who can speak Cambodian, said briefly that he heard the information about Yont Tharo’s protest also: “We cannot accept it. The information heard was as such, but the truth about it, the embassy did not receive it.”
Chau Net’s father said that he demanded a compensation amounting to 60 million dongs (about $3,000) and he also demanded that the authority arrest and bring to justice the suspects in this case: “Now, they told us to bring a complain, they told us to complain like that. We also complained to the lower level so that the group of killers pays for the compensation.”
Chau Net’s father was summoned by the Viet authority to clarify this case in the upcoming few days in order to provide his report and his complaint about his son’s murder.

Poor Khmer Krom. Hun Sen government officers dare not touch Viet who is their boss. Khmer Krom is Khmer, according to our law, but no one, even the King, never does things for them.
Sooner or latter, Khmer Phnom Penh will also the same as Khemer Krom.
Anyone tell me who is this Youn Tharo. Does he recieve any justice so far from Khmer government (police). Do the police find the killer who kill his son or not yet?
How can he help to find justice for khmer Krom?
Youn Tharo just uses Khmer Krom's Case for his popularrity of his Party. Plaese all the SRP stop using Khmer Krom as your bait to gain your political's propagandas.
Youn Tharo is nothing but, a trouble maker in Cambodia Mr. Tith Sothea Said at his office Quick Reaction Unit (PQRU) of the Council of Ministers yeasterday .
KHMER EMPIRE. (PERIOD)
The Opposition is right to ask for justice in this case. And it should keep the spot light on it until justice is served.
If demanding justice from either the Vietnamese or Thai authorities over such brutal murders of Khmer people enhances anyone's popularity then the Royal Government itself should consider taking this opportunity to widen its own appeal whilst enacting its entrusted or due responsibility instead of turning a blind eye to such atrocities and trying to deflect criticism away from its dubious complicity by labelling those seeking justice for the victims 'opportunists'.
Is there no sense of shame at all within this Royal Government in 'prostituting' itself unfailingly at the service of foreign powers?
School of Vice
Khmer Krom people are warriors. And gutless are by-product khmer in Phnom Penh.
Can someone please post this picture in front of yuon embassy in PP?
It's very sad for all of us but Khmer-kroms are Vietnamese and they live under Vietname law.
The only way to come out from this is to fight against Yuons and change Kampuchea-Krom to a country, could they ?
Good luck brother..
Yes, indeed we fight with Youn's government with the National Law.
The world have recognize us!
Now let forget about Cambodian government because it is difficult for us to make it do what we want. I know everyone as khmer love khmer, so what can we do to help our countrymen living under vietnamese colonial? Is there anyone create fund boxes for Khmer Krom students to pursue higher education in Cambodia or abroad? Can we do that? I believe education can change the fate of khmer krom, they can help themselves.
I agree with you, education is very import for kaum khmer and khmerkrom, but we need someone to be good to organize this project and we want that community to be honest with our khmerkrom poor people too.
Kaun khmer always love khmer!
