(London) - Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International have issued the following statement about comments by senior Cambodian officials concerning the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Cambodia:
Cambodia: Joint Statement of Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch Regarding the Situation of the Office of High Commissioner for Human Rights in Cambodia.
Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International strongly condemn the public statements by senior officials of the government of Cambodia demanding the removal of the director of the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in Cambodia, Christophe Peschoux, and stating the government intends to force the closure of that office.
From our close knowledge of the work of the OHCHR Cambodia office, we reject as baseless the statements attributed to Foreign Minister Hor Nam Hong that the office has acted as a "spokesperson for the opposition party." This attack by the government on the OHCHR Cambodia office should be seen as a direct assault on the UN's human rights mandate, encompassed by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the international human rights conventions, many of which Cambodia has ratified.
We expect the leadership of the United Nations to continue to speak out in support of the OHCHR Cambodia office, its representative, and staff. Donor governments to Cambodia should likewise voice their strong objections to the Cambodian government's statements. US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who will visit Cambodia on October 31 and November 1, should publicly express support for the OHCHR Cambodia office and the UN's human rights mandate. Both Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International will continue to closely monitor the situation in Cambodia and expose human rights violations and promote accountability.

Right now due to the political situation in Cambodia I think Cambodia is more stable then any other times. I think no one can cause any poltical excuses except Hun Sen. If he doesn't cause trouble there will no one or any individual will dare to cause anything since now there is a law that Hun Sen using it label it on the opposition or other groups. Which that law was adopted from the US (Terrorism Law). I think if Hun Sen going to use this term we or the law of Cambodia can use to strike first to stop Hun Sen. Pre-emptive strike is the term they using nowadays. Please don't let Hun Sen threaten this. We are the people of Cambodia and the people of the UN will not want to see Hun Sen keeps on threatening this.
Please continue to persecute the rest of the perpetratiors from Pol Pot regime which almost 90% related to CPP that control Cambodia now. That's why Hun Sen is scare!!!!

Hun Sen is blofing...Hun Sen is always get his way with Cambodian people...But international community will not let this spoil bread to bring the whole country with him...the more he behave like this...the more his days become numbers. Sadam Husan is prime example. Better yet...just let Hun Sen hang himself.
Khmer people - don't stop him rights now...allow him to blow up his ego...straigh to ECCC...the court that he wants to do is just as a window dressing that his govt. commited to freedom and justic. He just want the new court building and support his cland sallary. Now his unjust shadow is following him everywhere...he is afraid of his own shadow...that is why he doesn't want US to prosecute case 002, 003, 004 (these include his clands).
But from my observation, I don't think that Hun Sen ready for this. Because I don't think that Hun's govt. can afford to kick the UN out! The threat is just full of air...this indeed a behavior of a dictatorship...threatening everybody except himself and his crony...when Hun leave Cambodia..he just a small men...couldn't event find his own bathroom...he need another person to show him where is the bathroom. Can you imagine..government borrow foreign money...spend money on his assistant to make sure he can get to barthroom on time!
I feel sorry for Khmer people...the longer khmer people willing to take the crab from Hun sen...the longer they suffer...and not only that...they will compromize their children's future for a fair competion in the democratic and free market society...waik up...try to imagine Cambodia without Hun Sen, don't let his fear get you! Fear is only a shadow enermy that Hun Sen creat...waik up...know that the power is in your hand - Vote Hun Sen out in the next National election...and whoever won the election...must have past the law of two terms (as Prime Minister). Allow other capable Khmer to lead the country to a better and prosper country...Take your power and allow Democracy to serve Khmer people...people power!

Very well said and I totally agree with you this point by get Hun Sen brings on more and more assaults on his human rights violation.
Hun Sen, the CPP, their clans and Hanoi are acting like the candle flame which about to be extinguished.
The effect seems very strong but in a short span and it's so very unfortunate to cost more lives of innocent victims.
I share your pain and suffering by keep fighting on your behalf to regain your and my freedom, peace and democracy for our land and our children of the next generation.
Rest In Peace my beloved country men and women, at least your suffering comes to the end. Your struggle would not waste in vain as we all continue your ultimate sacrifice and legacy of tragedy.

hun sen and most of his current gov.'s officials stain with Khmer innocent blood when they were secretly served in Pol Pot regime.
In Pol Pot army in that time,there were 2 rivals armies (2 Anka)which one Anka belong to Pol Pot and backed by China,another Anka secretly backed by vietnam.
Around 1977-mid 1978,in my zone, these 2 Anka became a large scale of accusing each other of betray the Anka and killing each others inside the Anka.
Around the end of 1979,vietnam
toppled Pol pot army and invaded Cambodia then install this current puppet government with its secret agents from Pol Pot regime.
vietnam has been controlling this puppet since 1980 up to this present so what ever Phnom Penh do and did are orchestrated by hanoi.

These 2 groups are Khmer Rouge between 1975-1979 become one group in Khmer Rouge period.
And the fack is that Pol Pot regime,or Khmer Rouge were formed up by 2 different ideology groups.
1 by Khmer Viet Minh groups.
2 by Pol Pot's group from France.
So if we review Pol Pot regimes again it will look like the following.:
1 Pol Pot. Angkar
2 Nuon Chea.Angkar
3 Ieng Sary . Angkar
4 So Pem , Khmer Viet Minh,Angkar
5 Ta Mok , Angkar
Note : Heng Samrin, Chea Sim , Sop Pem , Keo Meas are former Khmer Viet Minh before became Khmer and CPP Heng Samin and Cheasim , Hun Sen.

The reason that Hun Sen's government is so errogant is the fact that donor countries are encouraging them by their inaction and also their action. Inaction because they never told Hun Sen's government not to do anything bad and Action because they keep giving this goverment more money than asked for. Donor countries think that by giving more money they can help the poor Cambodians more but; instead they make this corrupted regime think that it is doing everything right. On top of that, this corrupted regime is taking credit for all the infra-structure development in Cambodia even though it comes from forein donors and a big part of the donation went into the corrupted CPP pockets.
