I wonder why Mr. Mongkol named his organization "Surin Language and Culture Association" instead of "Surin Khmer Language and Culture Association?"
I appreciated if Mr. Mongkol or anybody could explain this to me.

To avoid using the word khmer as much as possable is very good,because this word is very sensitive in thai sociaty.Anyone doese not know thai language cannot understand this reason clearly.
Pls help preserve Khmer and do not involve in politic be it Khmer or Thai just concentrate on the development and preserve the Khmer Culture

KHMER EMPIRE ONCE AGAIN!
Mr. Jaymongkul is doing the right thing... It is according the Thai constitution that the indigenous people has the right to preserve their culture and language. And in this is case there is nothing wrong to name it the way Mr. Jaymongkul did because after all it is the fact that Surin has a large population of Khmer descendant. So to name it just Surin alone does not mean anything. When we talk about Khmer in Surin we normally say Khmer Surin and we can not call them just Surin because Surin is just a province of modern Thailand. Another good example is that we call the Khmer people from South Vietnam as Khmer Krom because they live at the lower part of ancient Cambodia. So to leave out the word Khmer is not a smart move because we could lose our heritage background.

The word khmer is widely used only outside of thailand.For the thai,most of the time the word
Isan tai is used to regard the khmer living there.
Even the khmer themselves when getting out of their place,never speak khmer,never tell other that they are khmer.I myself used to try to speak khmer with them,but they don't want to.I have been in thailand olmost 12 years and met many surindr people,all speak thai.Unlike laos.
it is great thing. where ever u live, please do not forget ur race, native and language. reserve ur culture.
All Khmer children are Khmer Angkor. We must find our way back to our root.
To 11:46AM.You are a liar.Khmer Surin use both Thai and Khmer languages.They speak,sing,dance old Khmer cultures.I was born in Sisaket.I know who I am. Chey Mongkol teach Khmer in Surin to read and write Khmer only,not teach them to speak because they all know how to speak Khmer.
