. . . why our neighbors are more developed than we are, all in the same 30 years time (Vietnam also had war; Singapore with no natural resources but within the 30 years is a first world country; Malaysia with different religions, ethnicity, languages; Indonesia with war and far flung with a huge population; Thailand known to the world for its culture and cuisine, when the culture stemmed from Cambodia)?

If khmer want change for effective outcome then they have to start with their behaviours and their beliefs first, e.g 1) be true to yourself like give zero tolerant to corruptions 2)change religions, like turn into christianity for it is a true religion where the only son of God had to die for our sin. So, if son of God died for us, why not live and die for him also. Just look at the ten commandment where god gave us good rule to follow. Everyone allow to have one husband or wife, no commit adultory, no commit all kinds of crime, must love the lord our god with all our heart and soul, love parents and obey their teaching etc... Please promote christianity so that the world may end for good. wisdom

Cambodia is indeed a wonderland for critics. It's wonderful that every one is free to wonder about every thing of the wonderland. Long life Cambodia, the Kingdom of wonders! It is like one thousand flowers are now blossoming. Let’s hope that in the near future, when our economy will be stronger, with best educated leaders stemming from younger generations, we will be able to harvest some wonderful fruits from this. Let’s make Cambodia interests on top of any ideology or any particular party interests. Any country in the world became prosperous and more democratic after having been through some kind of dictatorship and hardship. Look at Chili after Pinochet or closer to us in Asia, Korea after Park Chung Hee, or Taiwan after Chiang Kai-shek or even Indonesia after Suharto, the Philippines after Marcos! Chiang Kai-shek started a personality cult and stamped out political dissent, two most conspicuous features of dictatorship. He had people worship him as savior of the Chinese nation. But now Taiwan is a prosperous land. In Korea President Park ruled his country with iron fish, but with good policy, he made Korea become a developed country. Let’s hope that one day, Cambodia will be one of them and the envy of every one.

9:43, maybe for criminals and thugs like yourself life is hard here in the U.S.
However, for hardworking people like ordinary Khmer, we come here even without a plot of land but yet this country welcomes us. Gave us opportunity to look for jobs and open for us every ladder and social flexibility afforded to other American people.
We can buy houses, send our children to school free of charge and if we can't afford lunch money, this country makes sure our children do not go hungry in school.
there are many opportunity for our children to get higher education so long as they study hard there always scholarship which they can compete for. Some scholarships even give minority more chances.
No one can throw us away from our house here. We actually have rights to security living in the United States. Even big companies like the U.S airport deals have to negotiate with people fairly if they need to take our land. The cities have laws to ensure we get fair compensation.
The NGOS have have powerful status here and lawsuits do not necessarily favor those with power, but favor those who are consistent with the law. We see big company pay off to victims never seen in many country, especially Cambodia!
Everyone in America takes their responsibility seriously and live their lives with freedom and pride.
Some people abuse freedom by attempting murder, robbery, embezzlement, and fraud but they get caught and thrown into prison.
Police get fires, C.E.O get let go, and even presidents resign.
This, is the land of America. Where safety, opportunity, and freedom is about personal responsibility and social responsibility. Where crooks like Hun Sen and Ly Yong Phat, Sok Kong, Hor Nam Hong, Hok Lundy, Bun Rany, Hing Bung Heang, and the likes would all be sent behind bars for 40+ years if they lived in a society like this.
A country where freedom and law reign, unfortunately, is no friend to dictators, blood suckers, embezzlers, traitors and murderers.
So 9:43, sorry the U.S doesn't welcome you because you're a criminal. As for the rest of us Khmer, we're living along fine in this free and country of law and order.
