“Now is the time to strengthen and promote a good relationship between the two nations, by narrowing our disputes and widening resolutions and cooperation.”
Cambodia and Thailand signed an agreement on Wednesday that will allow their citizens to cross back and forth across borders without a visa.

The visa exemption is for passport holders only, and will be added to agreements Cambodia already has with most other Asean members, excepting Brunei and Burma.

The signing took place during a summit of five Mekong River countries and comes on the heels of major diplomatic tension between Cambodian and Thailand this year.

“Now is the time to strengthen and promote a good relationship between the two nations, by narrowing our disputes and widening resolutions and cooperation,” Prime Minister Hun Sen said Wednesday.

Officials said they hoped the exemption would boost tourism. Around 60,000 Thai tourists have visited Cambodia in the first nine months of 2010, a drop of 9 percent from the same period last year.

It sounded like pretty soon people who board planes will be required to take their clothes off for hidden weapons? Are more people will get cancer from the scanning machines?

Man, I thought this 21century human beings suppose to get better. Seem like the government wants to shackle it's citizens at every turn. Yes, even by force. Freedom, where have you gone...?

Vietnam,Cambodia, and Lao are Red shirts suppoters.Don't worry about weapons, these three countries sneak around, train, and hand over to Red Shirts anyway. The Red Shirts will protest a new one soon. The old Khmer saying said,"the Viet sometime pulled bamboo tree from the stem and some another time from the top".This is what Viet intends to do with Siam.Bad luck to Abhisit.

Dear oh dear.
these comments show such ignorance.
a single visa with thailand will bring more tourists and more income for ordinary cambodians.
you cant rely on the garment industry and their sweat shop wages.
cambodians with english skills can earn several times the wage of a garment worker.
i suggest that the ignorant posters here should go back to school and get a real job.
