I don't think these people are driven to the CPP by ideology, the interests of the country or by the good leadership of the CPP, but rather by their family connections to the party. Lim Alfonso is a very desperate man. He is uneducated and never held a real job in his life. Now the coffee and Donuts business is in trouble. He needs to make a move hoping that he would land a lucrative position if he were to return to Cambodia.
Most of these type of people went back to Cambodia in 1993. Alfonso is a left over from these groups.
Unfortunately, it is a wrong time to make this kind of move. CPP is not desperate for this kind of support; moreover, the country needs educated people to return with good intention to help rebuild the country.
There are young people in Cambodia who have just completed their studies abroad. They need to be provided with good jobs. They can contribute to the rebuilding of the county.

Your % estimate of Khmers living in stockton is not relevent to the actual number. It can't be that high. I think it's about as many as 7% of the whole Stockton population are Khmers, while Long Beach is about 9% the whole population are Khmers. If you estimate just for one Khmers crowded community, I think it's about 70% as many.

These people think they can use CPP as their last life support, and CPP thinks they can use a little of what these people posess, which is very, very minimum.
They cannot define that big word - democracy - with their basic comprehensive and analytical capability. They know a couple of things, though, surviving and money. It is kind of too late now. There are now fat cats who actually posess credentials and education without conscience.
