Phnom Penh - The corpse of a cow that caused a crash in western Cambodia was confiscated and held at a police station for several hours in an unsuccessful bid to flush out its owner, local media reported Thursday.
Chhoeum Sophun, who heads the traffic police in Banteay Meanchey province, told the Phnom Penh Post newspaper that police had hoped the cow's owner would come forward and compensate the two vehicle owners.
But the uninjured drivers gave up after waiting two hours on Sunday, and decided to pay for repairs themselves.
'They took the dead cow with them,' he said. 'I don't know what they will do with it.'
Chhoeum Sophun speculated that the cow's owner stayed away because the damage would have totalled thousands of dollars, far more than the animal was worth dead or alive.
The country's wandering bovines made the news in September when police arrested a dozen 'anarchic' cows that were roaming the streets of Phnom Penh and disrupting traffic.
The herd was taken to the My Chance drug rehabilitation centre, and are still being held there because the owners did not come to claim them.
In March, police confiscated 15 bulls and cows in Phnom Penh after concerns their amorous antics might cause accidents.
In recent years, Cambodia's once-dire national roads have been upgraded, but it remains common to see livestock wandering across highways and on the outskirts of towns and cities.

This is only happen in Cambodia - unbelieve able - amazingly crazy...what do you expect the dead cow to do? Pay for the accident you made by not paying attend to where you are going - why don't you look on the road of where you driving? Or unless you see the dead cow - and expect the dead cow to way from road just like Hun sen drive every where - the street will clear, thus, did you the dead cow to had done the samething? Can you tell me what going on with your upper head - leave alone you bellow (since it has no eyes). But the one that has eyes - can't you see that the cow is dead?...
Actually the cow's owner suppose to ask you to pay for the dead cow...how about that - by heating the dead cow, you had damage it meat - it would be difficult to sale to customer...
Anyway, this is like leader like people the leader rule them. This is to show that the leader is blind, but people undernet the leader are event blind without congence in the Banana Kingdom!(Now I understand why Rainsy call Banana Kingdom).
I want to draw a similar concultion with Hun sen and foreign donoers. Hun Sen was threatening the intl. community that if they were not going to give any money to Cambodian - he will cut the wood, saling lands and kill his own people...is this consider to be crazy or what? Any expert on phycology out there - can you enlighten us what is it in Mr. Sen's mind? And with the guy who arrest the dead cow?(one upon the time...in the Kingdom of Banana..the high ranking office arrest the dead cow...and question the dead cow - what you are not dead of the road...poor cow, due to his lack of no live...the cow neither hear anything, see nothing, and speaking nothing...finally...the novour rich Khmer pick up the dead cow and put it on his Lexus....one his to tell the story of an unjust cow - that lack of consideration to the driver without gone to die off the road...Than the sen leader...blaaa...blaaa)...to be continue...

True in other lawful nations but this is cambodia--and impunity society runs by thug and his henchmen. The cow's owner should remain silent and stay away from the corrupted government officials.
