PHNOM PENH, Nov. 24 (Xinhua) -- Primary investigation found swinging bridge is the cause of the death of 375 people and the injured of 755 on Monday night at Diamond Island's north bridges during the last day of the celebration of the water festival, said a Cambodia's senior national police on Wednesday.
"Our primary assessment after we inspected the accident site and through the information provided by victims and eyewitnesses found that the swinging bridge is the cause of the accident," Lieutenant General Sok Phal, deputy chief of the National Police and vice-president of the special committee for the accident investigation, told Xinhua on Wednesday.
He said: "It's a kind of suspension bridge, but people were not aware of it and when it (the bridge) swung, some four or five people on it felt dizzy and got fainted."
"At that time, other people thought that the bridge was collapsing and burst out shouting that the bridge collapsed and the crowded people on it began to push each other back and forth and causing fatalities," he said. "In fact, the bridge is in good condition."
He said that the dead were from suffocation and stampede, no any evidence found about terrorism or electrocution.
"Our 100 percent conclusion that there is no any sign of terrorism in the accident," he said.
And it is also impossible to die from electrocution because the electric power used to supply the colorful lights along the bridge 's rail is just 12 vol in equivalent to the power for torch-light battery, so with this weak power, it could not electrocute, he explained.
Cambodia's Water Festival from Nov. 20 to 22 is the largest annual festival in the Southeast Asian nation, more than 2 million Cambodians, especially those from rural areas converged to the city to enjoy the regatta.

Regarding the incident at Koh Pich, I wouldn’t be daring to argue with you. I would refer you to study the history of Southeast Asia. Your teacher had twisted the history and you wouldn’t be able to understand and know the fact that where you were original came from. That’s right we lost territoryies to Thailand and Vietnam, because of political reason at that era. We, Khmer still remember everything. Khmer are not stupid. You are the stupid Thai; you should learn the true history of your country and Southeast Asia. Moan goiv chay mai?
This tragedy is a proof of how angry by GOD to Hun Sen regime. If Phnom Penh people won't work together to chase this criminal Hun Sen out from power, many more tragedies will be happened.

Yep, it has happened in 1997, Viet/Thai had destroyed cambodian economy, they scared too many Business people from abroad, alot of foreign merchants were commited suicide that time...Taiwanese, Korean etc...I believed they may done something to hurt cambodian economy again, they may paid someone to caused these problems...in Koh Pich?
It does make sense though...Vietnam never wanted Khmer to rise up, they may done something and trying to scared off tourist and international business people once more! both Thai/Viet alway team up and trying spit cambodia half and half, this their main goal!

Dear Khmer compatriot brothers and sisters,
I fill very sorry for the incident at Koh Pich that Khmer have been suffering again and again; I wish Khmer stop having the tragedies like this from now on. However, what I can see, if Yourn are still behind Hun Sen government, used Hun Sen ‘s hands to help killing Khmer in many different ways like that, Khmer never stop being suffered. This happening, at Koh Pich, is not the final tragedy for Khmer citizen. I do not believe that it is a real accident disaster; it has to have somebody plan to work on it to kill Khmer citizen for weakening us. If my view is correct, you will see Khmer will have a lot more tragedies than this in the near future. Therefore in order to stop something happen like this is to pull Hun Sen and his clans out of the government (it does not meter how we do it) and change government structure and policies.

It also makes me very worried to see so much alcohol allowed to enter or be produced in our beloved Kingdom of Cambodia? What about “ YA BA “ and other types of DRUGS from Thailand and Vietnam?
Can His Majesty Samdech Ta and Samdech Hun Sen stop all sorts of drugs coming to Cambodia? The accident may not be related to drugs and alcohol but just some thing that I could not sleep peacefully from now on to the future, in the names sake of true Khmer citizen.
Can Samdech Hun Sen kindly ask all 5 million Vietnamese illegal immigrants to peacefully return to Vietnam, so Koh Pich will not be too crowded more and more every day, every month and every year to come.
