Dear all
This Thursday, 9 December 2010, the Cambodian Center for Human Rights (CCHR) and Metahouse will host the Cambodian premiere of War Don Don, an award winning documentary about post-conflict justice at the Special Court of Sierra Leone. The documentary follows the prosecution of Issa Hassan Sesay, the former interim leader of the Revolutionary United Front (RUF), the main rebel faction in a conflict that devastated Sierra Leone between 1991 and 2002. In 2009, Sesay was found guilty by the Special Court of 16 counts of war crimes and crimes against humanity. The trial and conviction of Sesay by the Special Court, a hybrid tribunal of national and international staff similar to the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia, provides a fascinating insight into the experiences of a nation that has been through the process of seeking justice and reconciliation following a devastating conflict and highlights some of the debate that such a process ignites.
War Don Don will premiere at the Meta House, 37 Sothearos Blvd., Phnom Penh, on 9 December at 7pm. Entry is free of charge.

Thank you and kind regards
