Phnom Penh: A 22-year-old man who was injured in last month's stampede on a bridge in Cambodia's capital succumbed to his injuries, raising the death toll from the tragedy to 352, a senior doctor at the country's largest hospital.
The doctor at Calmette Hospital in Phnom Penh told yesterday to Kyodo News that the man died on Wednesday night.
The doctor also said that 94 people are still being treated at the hospital for injures sustained in the November 22 stampede, adding that of the 94, around 20 are in serious condition.
The stampede occurred on the last day of the Cambodia's annual three-day water festival in Phnom Penh.
Prime Minister Hun Sen has called the stampede the biggest tragedy in the country since the mass killings carried out by the Khmer Rouge regime in the 1970s.
