thank you, mr. chey mongkol. yes, in fact, kantreum was a part of real khmer culture since ancient time. khmer people of surin will never forget and will always keep it alive as a part of our khmer cultural identity, etc... god bless the people of khmer surin.

Deep down in your heart, do you and your fellow Khmer Surins still consider yourselves Khmers ? The reason I'm asking that question is I saw so many Khmers are killed by siamese soldiers from Surin and Sisaket supposedly populated with siamese of khmer origin.

I think you are from outside of Cambodia and has all to say but don't think.
Before you ask someone who still want to find out his real identity, you first have to ask all of us in Cambodia
and other oversea's Khmer.
From 1970 on until now, we Khmer are still mistrust, hate and may kill each other. It is not because of we are Khmer, more about the situation, all educational background & possibility .

Right Khmer must like Khmer but ask Khmers serving Siam black clad forces how much love do they have for Khmer land?
Cheymongkol needs to research and write about Khmers who sold Surin allegiance to King Sin and then his murderer Thong Duong aka Chakri first to share with other people.That's a fact in history that not many Khmers in Surin had known.
Please try not to preach the choir here.Siamese still kill each other to serve the Chinese royalties and elites in military in Bnagkok.Khmers from Surin in Siam uniforms and command did show how much they loved Khmer refugees then by dumping them off the cliff of Preah Vihear.

Siam palace is officially allowing its educational ministry to fund and certify Khmer instructors to teach Khmer language as the ASEAN becomes more inter states market oriented.It's no coincidence for Cheymongkol to set up his organization.
Today,many Khmers in Cambodia learn foreign languages including Yuon and Siam but that does not show how much love Khmers love those foreigners.
Khmer Surin never accepted Khmer in Cambodia as their equal because Siam showed them how inferior of Khom or Khmen identity.
i think people hated and killed each other not so much of because of a certain race such as khmer and khmer, etc... it is probably more due to injustice, inequality, unfairness, hatred , revenge and other personal grievances, etc... i bet you it has nothing to do with race such as khmer killing khmer, etc... i always thought that khmer surin were once abandoned by cambodia, the same with khmer krom in the mekong delta, etc... they were once abandoned by cambodia, so they have to where to go for help, so they built resentment over the century. so, from that lesson, let cambodia welcome them all to study to participate in cambodia art, festival, education, etc... yes, encourage all those khmer to come visit cambodia and study in cambodia and see cambodia, etc... it's a new beginning, so do come to cambodia, ok! be proud of your khmer origin, your country of origin of our khmer common ancestors, etc..., ok! god bless all.
