“Cambodia reserves its legitimate rights to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
Cambodia says it will not remove its flag from a pagoda on a disputed piece of land near Preah Vihear temple, despite a request from Thailand.
The Foreign Ministry said in a statement it would not comply with a request from Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva to remove the flag from Wat Keo Siha Kiri Svara.
Both sides claim the land surrounding the pagoda, which was also at the center of a prolonged military standoff that began in July 2008 and only ended a few months ago.
The Foreign Ministry called the “demand” for the removal of the flag “insulting” and said recent Thai military exercises near the border were “clearly provocative.”
“Cambodia reserves its legitimate rights to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity,” the statement said.
The latest row follows the removal of a controversial placard on the border purporting to mark the place where “Thai troops invaded Cambodia” in July 2008 and withdrew on Dec. 1, 2010. That sign has been replaced with one that says, “Here! Is Cambodia.”
Cambodia lays claim to the Keo Sikha Kiri Svara pagoda via turn of the century maps and conventions between France and Siam, the former name for Thailand. The pagoda was built by Cambodians in 1998 on land claimed by Cambodia. For its part, Thailand has said in the past it disputes the maps used by Cambodia and demarks the border according to its own surveys.
Foreign ministers from both countries are slated to meet in Siem Reap next week for a bilateral meeting on security and cooperation.

Cambodia must stand tall and be proud of themselves. Thai can't do anything to you. They think they are mighty but they hardly got into a big war. The only war they went into is killing those Thai muslim in the south and killed innocent Cambodian refuges during the 79's 80's and 90's.
Tactically, Cambodian (former KRs) will slaughter them all.
Thank you very much for showing me a memo in regard of MoU 2000 and ICJ of June, 15, 1959. With this concrete statement, the Thai aggressive conspicuously can not be demanded Cambodia to remove its flag at Wat Keo Sokha Keo Kiri Swarak. But if Thailand insists to engage a war with Cambodia, I strongly suggest the CPP gov't has the right to defend its sovereignty.The majority of Cambodians who live abroad as well as in motherland can't accept the senior CPP gov't officials to be let down by either the Abbhisit's gov't or the PAD. We want all of you to be mentally strong to against the aggressive Thais, no matter at what cost. From my suggestion, I did not intend to bark for Cambodian gov't to wage a war with any neighboring country, but I was at Preah Vihear once last year,and what I have learnt from there was to feel a sympathy on our Cambodian soldiers. To the near future, we (Cambodians) not only want a piece of land at the vicinity Preah Vihear, but some states along the border Cambodia that we have lost previously Thailand. Anyway, be strong: Mr. Hun Sen. You're the one whom I rely on as a great leader for now. Techo Hun Sen=Techo Dom Den=Techo Ty Dy who once died for his motherland.

this map if cambodia's official and icj verdict was based on this map, and it was an international treaty that settled dispute and came up with this map. siem pad thugs can't violate this map and demand that cambodia not honor this map! this map is official then and it is official now. just because time passed, doesn't mean siem pad thugs can change the map and do whatever they want with the international treat of that era, etc, ok! siem pad thugs must stop show contempt of court i.e. icj verdict, the 1907 international treaty, etc. cambodia lost more than siem think! we can never forget the many old khmer provinces siem stole from us, the mekong delta, koh tral, wat phou, etc, etc..., ok! so don't provok us, it won't change our stance, really!

this map says it all about why cambodia must not yield to siem pad thugs illegal demand, etc! this is the only acceptable map for us khmer people, ok! we don't honor siem's unilateral map they took fabricated during cambodia's preoccupation with civil war, conflict, etc... this map will always be our official map, ok! this map will be used as a baseline for any negotiation, demarcation, etc, etc... this map can be modernized based on it as a baseline for all future topography of cambodia's borderlines, etc, you know!
contentious by ass, siem pad thugs need their eye sight examine if they can't see this map that lineated the borderlines since 1907international treaty that saw present-day international boundary lines between cambodia and all its neighbors, really! if siem pad thugs cry about it, then maps should be redraw based on the khmer empire map to include all our old khmer provinces, wat phou, mekong delta, koh tral island, etc, etc... we know siem did not exist during khmer empire civilization, so, there's your answer, ok! more power to cambodia and god bless cambodia.

It's time to use your money in good cause by invest in more modern weapon. And tell educate our troops to speak in more professional maner to the Siamese tell them Cambodia is member of the UN and ASEAN nations and we only reconize the ICJ Map. 6:18 I agree with you, talking about isolation. During Pol Pot regime they have used our Brodal Sarey Free Style boxing into Muy Thai and do a whole lots better than Khmer after 1979. Before 1975 Thai was poor than Cambodia. Cambodia used Mercedes Benz and Thailand driving a junky toyota.
Khmer government should be open mind and listen to the Khmer Public and use more educated people in the government system in order to compete with Thailand. Thailand stragedy using PADS And UDD to voice their opinions and aggressive with Khmer. The one behind it is Bhumibol, him and Sihanouk never get along with each other and pick up a good spot for war which is around Surin area where Khmer Surin and Khmer Kandal gonna be a casualty. Thai is the murderer. If they capture Hun Sen son, Hun Sun gonna give them any thing that they demand for.

Thailand's Prime Minister is ridiculous! It is absurd to force Cambodia to take down their flag when it is hanging in their own Cambodian country. Also, what is wrong with hanging a flag of your own country? In the United States, many people hang the USA flag to show their patriotism & love for his/her country. Thai's PM has no right to tell another country to take down its own flag. How would Thailand feel if the USA told them to take down all their flags? This reminds me of communism & dictatorship. this is historical map that cambodia accepted, any new map must use it as a baseline, period! no siem unilateral map is allowed or accepted by cambodia, ok! just because it was an old map, doesn't mean it is incorrect nor not historically significant, it is very significant to cambodia, you know! the delineated borders on this international map should be enhanced with modern map making technology to upgrade it to a more modern looking map, although, the historical map will always be historical forever, you know! if siem can't accept it, then they violated the international law, international treaty, etc, etc...!
