Phnom Penh - The eldest son of Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen was made a major general in the country's armed forces, local media reported Tuesday, fuelling beliefs that the strongman is grooming a potential successor.
Hun Sen, who has ruled Cambodia for more than a quarter-century, joined the Khmer Rouge movement as a teenager and received limited secondary education. His 33-year-old son, Hun Manet, by contrast, is a 1999 graduate of the US Military Academy at West Point who later earned a doctorate in economics at Britain's University of Bristol.
He received his promotion at a ceremony Monday in Phnom Penh presided over by Defence Minister Tea Banh, who reportedly touted Hun Manet's West Point education in conferring the honour.
'This school is recognized internationally for its distinction in political science, law and military affairs, and in his new position, Manet must use the skills he has learned,' Tea Banh was quoted as saying by the Phnom Penh Post.
Hun Sen, 58, said last year that he plans to serve as premier for perhaps 15 more years and has claimed that he does not want his son to get involved in politics.
Observers said, however, that Hun Manet's rapid rise through Cambodia's military ranks is evidence of the premier's ambitions for his son.
'This is, again, part of the prime minister's attempt to consolidate power in politics,' said Hang Chhaya, executive director of the Khmer Institute for Democracy, a non-governmental organization that promotes democracy. 'This is the way leadership and consolidating power in Cambodia works.'

congralutions, general hun manet. i admired you. i praise that you will guide cambodia into the right direction and reform our armed forces, eventually, although i understand there are a lot of challenges ahead as there maybe conflict of interest as some members of your family or relative kindna violated some law in certain area. however, i strongly believe you will work toward reforming our armed forces, with all your power and privileges, etc... thank you for your love for cambodia and service to our nation and people and so forth. please continue to do good work for our cambodia by using and incorporating everything you see and learn from west point military academy of america. please educate our people, too. god bless you and cambodia.

Dissertation from every doctorate was pulished at the university's library or published in the university' s webspace. For months I have searched for the dissertation from PhD Hun Manet but by now I have never found it, as academician like him I am so wonder why this is didding, even dessertation from Mr Khiev Saphan in Frnace I find it. Does someone know what kind of topic who wrote abut his dessertation? Is that the real dissertation or Unverified to copy sb.'s work ?

Hun Sen must prop up his son to protect his own skin from being lynched from his own people when he retires. They love him TO DEATH.

Hun Sen has more Crimes than any other in Cambodia' history.
His Crime as follows :
1)- Brought Yuon to Invade Cambodia.
2)- Created K-5 plan.(Aprox. 600,000 Killed)
3)- Bombast in front of the old ASS.
4)- Coup D'etat 1997 (Aprox. 13,000 Killed)
5)- Koh Pich Murder (Aprox 400 Killed)
6)- Cut land to Yuon Enemy
All these crimes are enough evidences for International Prosecution.
I ask all khmer to file International lawsuit against Hun Sen for his "Axis of Evil" on Khmer People. And make The CASE "OO4" for KRT. backed by United Nation.
