The military confrontation between Cambodian and Thai troops over the border area near Preah Vihear temple continues on Saturday and troops on both sides are still on high alert, said a close military source standby at the area.
"We're still on high alert to defend our territorial integrity, " a senior officer, who asked not to be named, said on Saturday.
Thai side has stepped up their troops on their border side; they attempted to bring their Thai flag to fly at Cambodia's Keo Sikha Kiri Svarak pagoda near Preah Vihear temple, he said.
"We have warned Thai troops in advance already, if they dare to enter Cambodian territory, Cambodia will use self-defense rights to protect our sovereignty and territorial integrity," he said.
Cambodian Ministry of Defense on Friday has dispatched dozens of tanks and fighting vehicles as well as missiles and ammunition to Preah Vihear temple area. He said that those armaments have arrived at Preah Vihear temple on Saturday morning.
The re-tension between Cambodia and Thailand over the border happened on Thursday after Thailand demanded Cambodia to remove a national flag over Wat Keo Sikha Kiri Svarak pagoda near Preah Vihear temple, claiming that the pagoda is on the disputed area, but Cambodian side rejected it.
Meanwhile, Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation issued a declaration on Friday to firmly reject the demand of Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva to remove the Cambodia's flag at the pagoda near Preah Vihear temple.
The ministry said that according to the map produced by the Franco-Siamese commissions between the period of 1905 and 1908, the Keo Sikha Kiri Svara pagoda, built by the people of Cambodia in 1998, is clearly situated in the Cambodian territory. Therefore, the flag of Cambodia is legitimately flying over this pagoda.
The ministry called "the statement made by Thai Prime Minister in parallel with Thailand's military exercise at the border with Cambodia is clearly provocative and constitutes a casus belli for future acts of aggression against Cambodia."
Cambodia's Preah Vihear temple was enlisted as World Heritage Site on July 7, 2008. Just a week after the enlistment, Cambodia and Thailand have had border conflict due to Thai claim of the ownership of 1.8 square miles (4.6 sq km) of scrub next to the temple, triggering a military build-up along the border, and periodic clashes between Cambodian and Thai soldiers have resulted in the deaths of troops on both sides.

In the world there are many countries big and small, strong and weak which coexist side by side.
To prevent the big and strong ones to harass or encroach the small and weak ones, they have created the UN so that these countries can coexist in peace.
The current stupid Cambodian gov’t which is not willing to use the UN to solve the present conflict with the neighboring countries is beyond the majority of the Cambodian people’s comprehension.

The delineation of boundary between Cambodia and Thailand by the mixed French-Siamese commission was not a mere coincidence. It was done on the agreement that the French position in Indochina gave up Chanthaburi and Trat provinces; and Siam returned Siem Reap, Kampong Thom, and Battambang provinces, which it had conquered and occupied for over two centuries back to Cambodia. It's a misconception for Thais to think that the Franco-Siamese treaty of 1904-07 was an unfair treaty while France was a super power at the time. King Sisowath considered the treaty a major accomplishment during his reign by regaining Cambodia's most important historical land back. On the other hand, King Chulalongkorn (Rama V) of Siam believed it was to the best interests of Siam for gaining Chanthaburi and Trat provinces from the French possession and safeguarding their homebase country from being a colony of the west. Chanthaburi and Trat provinces proved to be a great bargain for Thailand today with a vast area of the Gulf of Thailand, islands, and large oil and gas deposits beneath the sea floor. This land trade off also gave Bangkok a more proportional distance away from Cambodia, roughly 120 miles from the border. The Franco-Siamese treaty of 1904-07 showed Annex I map with a clear and finite boundary line between Thailand and Cambodia. There were no so-called "overlapping" or "disputed" 4.6 km2 between the two kingdoms. The Annex I map was subsequently being used by the Royal Government of Cambodia under the leadership of then King-Father Norodom Sihanouk in the World Court case regarding Preah Vihear in 1962, in which the court ruled by a vote of 9 to 3 that Preah Vihear Temple and the adjacent areas were in the territory of Cambodia.

Luckily Cambodia didn't ask the UN to review the case of Trat and Chanthaburi. What the hell is Thailand thinking?
We are really wonder! We've lost a lot of lands/territories to our neighbors but we take that bitter lost and learn to realized that our passed leaders fought amongst each from time to time and whoever those neighbors won we gave or trade off some lands. But to prove it today with the current issue with Thailand I don't think Cambodia will bow down or retreat to let Thai do whatever they want.

The Siem dogs will try its damn-est in making up story to justify its action toward Cambodia. It will make a small issue into something big that lead to war. Thailand saw war as the only option to resolve border issue with Cambodia. So what is that telling Cambodia. Stop bullshiting with the aggressor. Appearently, resolving border issues in a peaceful, civilize way is not want Thailand wants. Thailand highly desires to have war with Cambodia, as nasty as it will be, then war Cambodia must give.
Warfare is the greatest affair of state, the basis of life and death, the way to survival or extinction. It must be thoroughly pondered and analyzed. Therefore, structure it and evaluate it comparatively through estimations and seek out it's true nature.
As you now know that our leaders' task is to unite the people and make them follow the ruler, then they will die with him, they will live with him and not fear of danger, and as we all clearly see, our leaders in general have encompassed the wisdom, credibility, courage, strictness, and they do understand the laws for military organization and military discipline very well.
As you have heard "The wars win or lose before we ever fought" or another word "evaluating the enemy, subjugating the enemy's army without fighting is the true pinnacle of excellence". If you understand that then you will never blame our leaders for what strategy they have been using vis-a-vis Thailand's military bully. The basic strategy in warfare is to focus upon manipulating the enemy, creating the opportunity for an easy victory, and then applying maximum power at the appropriate moment. Avoiding strong forces is not cowardice, but wisdom, for it is self-defeating to fight when and where there is no advantages, like Sun Tzu's "The Art of War". All of you should have one of these books. He said "One who knows when he can fight, and when he can not fight, will be victorious. One who knows themselves and knows the enemy will not be endangered in a hundred engagements".
As we clearly see, initial estimations show that our gov't does not have or gain more advantage to the nation for going to war right now. Am I right?
The greatest military commanders have always frequently thought and identified solely with the common strategy of "Deceit and Deception". That's the strategy that they will be using in any warfare. Warfare must be viewed as a matter of deception, of constantly creating false appearances, spreading disinformation, and employing trickery and deceit. When imaginatively created and effectively implemented, the enemy will neither know where to attack nor what formations to employ, and will accordingly be prone to making fatal errors. How Deception does it like this if the enemies have greater number of forces full of strength? We avoid them and wait until we create chaos or weakness within the enemy's rank first. If the enemies' unity caused them to be separated, attack where they are unprepared.
Go forth where they will not expect it. If we found ourselves or estimated we are in advantageous position, destroy them. These are ways the military strategists devised to obtain their victories. They can not be spoken of in advance. As all of you have seen, the USA lost war, not on the battlefields in Vietnam, but in the war room in Washington DC. In direct battles, US Army's power machine have sought to obtain victory in every combat, but the press and the people in Washington have opposed the war. They demonstrated and kept on putting pressures on the Gov't to withdraw the US troops from Vietnam.
Now you clearly see war, win or lose, is not about military power, it's about deception, using our brain. Am I right?
The time has come for Cambodia to grant Thais what they have wished for - a bloody war! Better yet, we don't have to fight. Just send our mercenaries to Thailand Southern provinces to train and help the muslim rebels to kill Thais.
I think Abhisit needs this time to buy some time. He knew that those 4.6km2 of land belong to Cambodia but he thought when he took office can solve all this issue. Now he realized that UN of IJC will not allow him and his government to interfere with Cambodia matter.

Here another one in southern LAOS for example. The province called Attapeu in Laos or in Khmer name Achkrapeu was once belong to the Khmer Empire or almost the whole LAOS belong to Cambodia. They kept the name and slicely changed bacause they can't pronounce Khmer name as Achkropeu.

My advice to Khmer govt, this issue should have long been solved by U.N before initiating any arm conflict. It's a simple matter that can be easily solved by the U.N. What are the Khmer govt waiting for?

In this treaty we Cambodia lost Trak and Chanthaborey in order to regain Battamnang and Siemreap. If the PAD wants war we and our brother Thai Muslims in the south should rise up and get our lost land back from the lunetic Siem Thais.

I understand your argument very well, that was true what you said. For myselft I saw like you too, why? after 1979 I was working with vietnamesse soldiers for 1 year in Siem Reap province fighting against Pol Pot (Khmer against Khmer). But later I knew internal and also some of vietnamese soldiers (recruting from South Vietnam told me a lot), so I can tell you all in the following:
a. On the surface they do well and cool but inside the different when they know all about you then they kick you off,
b. not all vietnamese people are they are us too, some bad some good that it normal in the socity but I hate the vietnam strategy to annex Khmer like Khmer Krom and Champa.
c. till now I've never understand why CPP depend on Vietnam power because of the CPP's power in Cambodia?
d. Could we (all Khmer) work together for one nation like in the past, Vietnam as friend YES, but not as BOSS.
e. I do hope Thai militery is brutal against Khmers (not only all Khmer but also all foreigners). But in the Thai social is different from militery, we must look back to our brothers/sisters along with Khmer border why they are happy to life over there and have mostly a good education? So we mus look back to Khmer in South Vietnam what they get from Vietnam Govt? Nothing. In fact, both are so different.

Could you tell me which books or documents describing about Cheychetha II ? I just only know this king was very disappoint before
