Prime Minister Hun Sen's eldest and favourite son, Hun Manet, has been promoted to a major general and appointed as Deputy Commander of Royal Cambodian Army (ground forces) by royal decree No. 033833 on 3rd January. Hun Manet was appointed by a sub-decree signed by his father, Prime Minister Hun Sen, on 30th December 2010 before the appointment was made official by a royal decree signed by King Sihamoni on 3rd January.
This is a second promotion for Hun Manet in three months, after he was promoted to a brigadier general and appointed as Deputy Commander of Mr. Hun Sen's Bodyguard Unit on top of his other role as Commander of the Anti-Terrorism Unit.
The promotion ceremony was presided over by Defence Minister Tea Banh at the Defence Ministry on the morning of 3rd January.

i think the children of anybody should be able to work for the gov't, etc, given they must be qualified in their own rights, not through their parents, etc!
in america, anybody wants to work for the gov't, they must pass a written exam, must be qualified whether with college degree, job experience, past a test both oral and written, etc, etc... this is how it ought to be in cambodia, too, really! the era of favoritism through one's parents' influence, etc is bygone, i think! that's how it should be in cambodia from now on, you know! this way, this kind of political dynasty won't encourage so much corruption to the point of no return, etc!
gov't important position shouldn't be automatic just because you are the son of so and so, etc... everybody should be required to take and exam, both written and oral, and passed, in order to be promoted, keep gov't job, etc, etc... it is better like this. think about how it would prevent or discourage corruption of this form, etc, you know!

the last i read, kim il jong's son is not interest in politics or following in his daddy's dirty footstep, etc. he said it is so outdated and boring and stressful and can shorten his life span due to these health problem, etc.! so, i hope the children of cambodia will think twice about their health as well, not just their poticial ambition like power, etc. there are more to cambodia than ever before, you kow!

Hun Sen is killing Khmer nation. Hun Sen murdered over 5000 Cambodians at 1997. He is a criminal against Humanity. Hun Sen makes real Cambodians suffer everyday.
You have power and kill a lot of Khmer but you are powerless fighting against your own ageing everyday. Soon your time is over and you can't escape death at all. Your power, your wealth and the people that kiss your ass won't help you at that time.

Cambodian people gave vote to CPP to run the country with accountability and transparency. The fact that the Prime Minister appoints his family members for top job (police, army and others) is not conducive to ensure accountability and transparency of State businesses. It is time to adopt policy based on absence of conflict of intersts. Cambodians are right now more and more educated and well informed, the democracy à la KIm Il Sung family is outdated and should be banned in Cambodia.
By the way Anti Corruption Unit should examine this conflict of interests which is the propensity to do so of current prime Minister.

i think hun manet is very smart and intelligent, bright young man! if he's has the capability, the qualification, etc, more power to him, despite he's being the son of the controversial leader. i look at him as an individual, not a group. individual people are different in gene, character, education level, etc, so don't assume he's like his father or whatever. give him a chance, he might be able to help cambodia because he's young, educated in america, etc, etc... god bless him and cambodia.

hun manet hates communism! he represents young, smart, new generation of khmer leaders. his background is clean as he was borned after the KR era and so on... so, biased people can't accuse him of KR affiliation, viet/youn affiliation, etc. he was educated in america and will make cambodia a better country with american allies, etc! plus, he's already rich, so no need to corrupt, because he inherit wealth from his family. so, he comes clean with everything! god bless him and cambodia.
