A Cambodian Court has ruled that five Thais intentionally entered Cambodia without permission.
They were sentenced to nine months in prison and a fine of 1,000,000 riel (about 10,000 baht).
Since the five have served one month in prison already, the court suspended the remaining eight-month jail term. The five Thais are now free to return home.
The five Thais released today are Democrat Party MP Panich Vikitsreth, Samdin Lertbutr, Tainae Mungmajon, Naruemol Chitvarattana and Kojpollathorn Chusanasevi.
The other two Thais still in custody are yellow-shirt activist Veera Somkwamkid and and his secretary Ratree Pipatanapaiboon. They face additional charges of spying. The Thai Foreign Ministry has said it will continue to provide help for them.
Upon leaving the courthouse, Mr Panich - who wore a blue cap with an Asean logo - said only that everything is for the spirit of Asean.
The seven Thais were arrested and charged with illegally entering Cambodia on Dec 29.
Dozens of police surrounded the Phnom Penh Municipal Court and nearby streets for the hearing, which started at 2pm.
Mr Panich was first to testify, followed by the four others.
The hearing ended about 5pm.
The five gave similar terstimony, that they had no intention to trespass on the Cambodian soil. They said they did not know it was a restricted area because they could not read the signboards, which are written in Cambodian.
Mr Panich said he did not take pictures or video images of the area because he had with him only a mobile telephone.
He said he met a villager on the way but did not talk to him, so he did not know he was already in Cambodian territory.

Persistence is an essential factor in the procedures of transmitting desires into an equivalence of a material success. The basis of persistence is the power of will. Strong desires and will power, if combined together, will become an irresistible pair.
Men who got great success in every major things in life are generally known as cold-blooded, and sometimes ruthless, tyrants. Often they are misunderstood. What they have is will-power, which they mix with persistence and place at the back of their desires to ensure the attainment of their objectives. Toughness and persistence is equal to the character of a man to what carbon is to steel. Now you clearly see that toughness or tyrannical persistence is the only source to great success, don't you?
The majority of people are ready to throw their aims and purpose overhead and give up at the first sign of opposition. Those are the men who are significantly indulged in self-importance over service. They speak softly and act gracefully. This manner can only attract weak people and will fail in everything they do. Weak people are those who are weak in desires and persistence. They did find themselves lacking in persistence. It is like a small mount of fire that make a small amount of heat. Now, we clearly see losers considering themselves as self-important over service and the task at their hands, isn't it? Those losers are mainly good in talking, talking and talking but practically they are useless or weak. The first sign of weak people are jealousy, envy, criticism and anger and they destroyed any thing that they have touched.
From 1980 to 1985, during the dark period, the whole Cambodian nation did not have a police force yet. It was an unlawful state. Anyone could have been raped, robbed and killed without being brought to face the proper court system. I remember when I was in law school, gov't did not have criminal law charges against killers in traffic accident yet because on the streets we don't have cars. In those situations and now, we need people who are strong mentally and physically to run our country. And the good things is that gov't has surrounded itself with top intelligent Khmers or foreign mentors. Now we can imagine that Cambodia's future is strong, not weak. Aren't we?
If the gov't is not strong, the Thais will never act like humans, they will always act like barbarians towards Khmer.
Cambodia and Thailand has the same cutural, and religion, we should live together like brother and sister..Why fighting each other instead..? Just look at the languages, almost the same too..?

Yep, but making sure corrupted officials put in jail or punish, otherwise this country will become like Kampuchea Krom in 48 hours..

If they can go home after being in jail for one month , why the Court sentenced them to nine months in jail ? It makes no sence . It makes more sense if the Court sentence them to one month in jail instead of nine months.

LAW must be working in cambodia, all people must live under the LAW!!!! I think the problem with our country nowaday is that>most of powerful family, like high ranking officials still getting away from the LAW? This is why our country is torn a part and destroying, because these crook, and corrupted people sitting above the LAW? If we can clean up these problems, i think CAMBODIA will become STRONG! I strongly disagree with 12:14 AM . If you compare Cambodian government to Viet and Thai , I don't believe the government is strong like he says .

in the aftermath of the KR era, someone in cambodia has gotten to be tough, you know! i mean someone got to be a dickhead in order to get things in order and get things done because we can't have too many passive, nonaggressive, incompetent people in cambodia all of the time, you know! so, don't hate the rogue one, he/she is just doing his/her job, really! yes, civilized society live and work by the law, regulations, rules, rule of law, code of conduct, code of ethics, professionalism, etc, etc... that's part of being a civilized society or country, really! get used to it, ok!

Yes right Cambodian is fucking still the poorest in Southeast Asian, everyday day I heard Khmer crossing to the nieghbor looking for works they got shoot from the nieghbor like animals. Tell me mother fucker if our country modernize and rich how come our people go out side the country looking for works. Unless we change the dumpest leader now then I agree with you guys.
I know i know, but we are getting better though...New development, there will be more jobs in cambodia for all of our cambodian, i was surprise to see my cusin living in the rural area, they are now have tv, dvd, electricity, on new wooden bangalow house, running water...You see? Cambodia will be a big rice export, this is why cambodian farmer has changed alot...like my cusins for example!
My cousin lived in KomPing Poiy,Battambang, their house made Russey Prech, their house used to made from SBOV Kadobb, now they have nice wooden house, bottom is cement and i really surprise to see their lives improved...I think in the near future our country and our people will catch up with Thailand...
Most of these people are Khmer have Yourn's Brain or they are so blind to see the reality. They don't see Yourn are everywhere in the Country, Yourn rob all Khmer land, destroyed all Khmer’s natural resources, took all Khmer jobs, Yourn encroached into our border and the worse of all they invaded our Country etc... These yourn’s entire invasion is because of the puppet Government in Phnom Penh allowed them. These too blind people still said such "Cambodia continue to become modern, peace, stabilize country, security, safety, this is why people from all over the corner of the earth came to Cambodia, this is good news for our country's economy...". If you are that blind our children will become the minorities in our mother for sure in the future...On the other hand, the big and tall buildings are not for Khmer citizens; they are built for Youn, do you understand? Khmer will go to live in the Jungles while Yourn moved in town. The good example for these realities to see is Khmer Kampuchea Krom. Please konn Khmer don't forget what yourn tried to trick your eyes! Wake up!
