PHNOM PENH, Feb 10, 2011 (Xinhua) -- The number of new automated teller machine (ATM) installed in Cambodia increased by 35 percent last year, according to the latest figure from the National Bank of Cambodia (NBC) on Friday.
It recorded that 130 ATMs had been installed by commercial banks last year, bringing the total number to 501 by the end of 2010, up 35 percent from 371 in a year earlier.
Thai Saphear, head of the governor's office of the central bank, said Friday that the last year's increase of ATMs thanked to the launches of new banks and existing banks expanded their operations.
Last year, three international class banks--CIMB of Malaysia, Bank of China, and Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development--have launched their operations in Cambodia.
Currently, the country has 30 commercial banks; however, the most ATMs have been found installed by large banks only and too many ATMs crowded in urban centers.
So Phonnary, vice president and chief of operation officer of ACLEDA Bank, said Friday that the bank has installed 26 ATMs last year, bringing the total number to 112 at the bank.
"Of the figure, 50 percent is in the city," she said. "Our ATM expansion is to meet the rising demand of our customers." She said that to date, the bank has 1.2 million depositors, represented about 8 percent of the country's population.
Cambodia's banking industry has seen more than a quarter growths of deposits and loans in 2010, according to NBC's annual report released early this week.
Customers' deposits rose by 26 percent to 4.16 billion U.S. dollars and loans increased by 27 percent to 3.18 billion U.S. dollars.

If Dr. Hun Sen and Dr. Hun Manet remove the tablet it is show they are extremely coward and his star are just joy stars given by his daddy not by patriotism. Dr. Hun Manet is very coward as his daddy they only aim to kill innocent Cambodians that all. Dr. Hun SEn and Dr. ten stars Hun Manet are very great at bullying Cambodians and killing Cambodians but cowardly toward Thai and Viet.
CPP are not just corrupted, CPP are extremely corrupt. They are even sell the country such as Kos Trol, Seas, lands, Cambodian people, Cambodian health and well being, all resources in the Cambodia…with lost count. You name it!
Seriously where is the win win policy of Dr. Hun Sen represent? The country is getting smaller and smaller and shame by Dr. Hun Sen and Dr. Hun Manet and his families, his relatives and friends.

many country donations and put in
