China on Monday called for calmness and restraint from both Cambodia and Thailand to prevent the escalation of border conflicts between the two southeast Asian countries.
"Both Cambodia and Thailand are China's friendly neighbors. China hopes that the two nations exercise calmness and restraint, resolve disputes through consultation, and prevent the situation from escalation," Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei said.
The latest fighting between Cambodian and Thai troops in their age-old territorial dispute erupted at the border region Friday afternoon and entered the fourth consecutive day Monday.

Thai people know that the 4.6km and Prea Vichear belongs to khmer but sill arrogantly approaches the area and dear steping in saying that its their, what a shame! At the moment Thai gov't is at risked of losing their jobs and want to convey their people to focus on war with khmer rather than on them. What a good tactic. But what they are doing is wrong!!! individual's life is not a game for both side to play with. Half of khmer are; khmer-viets, khmer-chinese and khmer-loas...So, Viets, Chinese and Loas must jump in to help multicultural khmer. E.g. if you attack one, you attack on all of us!!!Back off Thai before you lose it all. After all, most of THai's land was once belonging to khmer or may be this is the time for it to be returned to its original owner. Prepare for the worst if you guys don't back off now. 4.6km is nothing compare to losing millions lives within the twelve months. From here, there will be millions of refugees from both sides. It will affect other surrounding countries and more presured on all who involved.
It is not worth it, so back off Thai people and shame on you knowing that it is not their in the first.
Viets, Chineses and khmers, you all have to deploy right, lets invade them before they invade us, let put an to the west influences on Thai for good and also let stop their arroganess and let change the whole gov't structure from both countries for an effective outcome...Hmm Wisdom
I think all these Chinese leaders want is if 1+1= 2 is okay but if 1+1 = 5 then is a problem..

PLEASE DO NOT CALL CAMBODIA AND THAILAND TO CALM DOWN. PLEASE USE YOUR POWER TO CALL THE U.N. SECURITY COUNCIL TO TAKE ACTION. THIS WAY CAN STOP THE HOSTILITY BETWEEN THE TWO NATIONS FOR EVER.
