BANGKOK, Feb 20 - Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya reaffirmed Thailand's stance to solving Thai-Cambodian dispute at a bilateral level at the upcoming Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) foreign ministers meeting in Indonesia due to be held on February 22.
Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva on Sunday afternoon called a meeting with Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya, Defence Minister Prawit Wongsuwon and Army Chief Prayuth Chan-ocha to discuss Thailand's stance at the upcoming ASEAN foreign ministers meeting.
After the one-hour meeting, Mr Kasit said that he would affirm solutions to border conflict through existing bilateral mechanisms between Thailand and Cambodia, particularly Thai-Cambodian Joint Boundary Commission (JBC), General Border Committee (GBC) and Cambodian Regional Border Committee (RBC) after the UN Security Council (UNSC) recommended bilateral talks to end Thai-Cambodian dispute facilitated by ASEAN.
"At the meeting on Tuesday in Jakarta, I will insist that Thailand is ready to use the bilateral mechanism that already exists with Cambodia," Mr Kasit said after the meeting.
He said he would clarify at the ASEAN foreign ministers meeting, that progress has been made in the committees meetings and Thailand would continue solving the dispute as suggested by the UNSC.
Thailand sent a letter to invite Cambodia to attend the JBC meeting in Bangkok scheduled to be held later this month and under the JBC framework, Thai defence minister will send a letter to Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Tea Banh to ask Cambodia to host another JBC meeting.
He hoped that the JBC meeting will be held and defence ministers of the two countries can discuss how to prevent border skirmishes.
Thailand will propose that Indonesia, the current ASEAN chair, send observers to accompany Thai army forces at the border to witness the situation and to ensure the ceasefire will be permanent. He said Thailand affirmed to have the ASEAN chair to facilitate negotiation processes.
Mr Kasit also said signing of a ceasefire agreement is not necessary because the existing JBC mechanism and issuing of statement by the two countries are integral to several processes meant to address the border situation. (MCOT online news)

NPP, you think you will for ever because this ceasefire? Yes, it will lose for ever because this Map was draw by your side alone during was so weak. But Khmer can do it the same like King Sisowath claimed to France' governor in 1906, to take all province along the border with Thai, esp. Sisi keth, Sorin, ...... Do you read this history? 1) If you are sure you lose your your to Khmer! You has the strong army, why you don't take it during Khmers killed each other and weak dduring 1970-1993??. Because during that time was so easy for you. But, in fact, you all were not sure wehther this area belong to Thai? Just the Khmer leader under Hun Sen give more land to Viet, even Koh Tral iland, that's why you claim from Khmer too. The first piont your leader must do that because your country is splitted by internal policy, so turn thailand people to this topic like Hitler did in the WW2 too. That is the piont that you must.

Why do Kos Trol, sea and lands proximately over 10 000 km2 have been lost to Vietnam by who treaty? Why don’t Cambodia goverment transparencies explain to Cambodia army at front line and the whole nation about this? Why don't they include this into education system? Why?
Cambodian armies are fighting at front line for 4.6 km2 and what's about over 10 000km2 of Cambodia to Vietnam. Nobody dare to talk about it! Why? Cambodian armies you are decide the fate of your nation, Cambodian army as well as Cambodian people must rethink about this again and again. Is it fair?

Cambodian army at front line suffer under rain, wind, bullets, bombs, lack of foods, lack of nutrition, their families have no health care help, no securities after they die but a very small group eat well, sleep well, sleep in first class hotel with air conditioning with young girls message, have super health care from oversea medical treatment, they are billionaires, millionaires who sell out the country to be rich and make Cambodian people suffer everyday as Cambodian people know already.
Who signed the treaty 1979-1985 that result lost over 10 000 km2 of Cambodia??? Why don't they transparency inform all Cambodian and Cambodian army at front line about these issues? Why don't include Kos Trol (Kos Trol size is bigger than the whole Phom Phen and bigger than Singapoor with heap of great natural resources) in education system in Cambodia.
Look at Hun Sen families, relatives; friends are billionaires, millionaires where do they get the money from if we all just get out of war with empty hands? Hun Sen always say in his speech Cambodia just get up from war, just get up from Zero with empty hands and how come they are billionaires, millionaires but 90% innocent Cambodian people are so poor struggling with living every day.
